Help me clear up best option here

Under what conditions would you pick each of these? Which is preferable if sending ALAC to Airplay 1 AVR with minimal interference by any DSP? I know nothing is perfect in that scenario but close is fine.

Screen shot is from the AVR web page. Most decent AVRs have their own web setup page with more adjustments for installers.

w/my Apple music, I'm sending the Airplay to my AVR(Sony ES). Inside yours, AP is going to your digital converter some form & I would give it "full" access. Try it at least.
I also tried sending Airplay to my Apple 4TV box. In that instance the AP stream was being "handed off" to the Applebox to allow full 24bit/48k audio to the Sony DA. My anecdote fwiw is that they sounded the same in my room. Both excellent.
