Hi everyone,
This is my first post, so I hope I'm posting in the right place!
I have a small basement room that I use as a home cinema. I have a BenQ projector and, for the time being, a Samsung soundbar with a subwoofer. A few years ago, I had a small 5.1 system, but I decided to switch to a simpler setup with only one speaker.
Now, I want to upgrade again and change to a 5.1 or 7.1 system, which I can eventually expand further.
I want something that will last a few years. I will mostly use it for watching movies (70% of the time), listening to music (20%), and gaming (10%).
I can get a good price for Polk speakers. I am considering the Polk R500 (CAD 1,150 per pair) and the Polk L600 (CAD 2,500 per pair). However, I have no idea about the center and rear speakers.
My room is open and measures 10x14 ft.
I don't know exactly which receiver I want yet, but something like a Marantz Cinema 50 or an Onkyo TX-RZ50 would be good.
Budget would be around 5000-6000k CAN$
Questions:
- Which speakers should I choose: R500 or L600? Are they good? I have read a lot of reviews, but they vary considerably in forums.
- Would those A/V receivers be enough for those speakers, with two rears and one subwoofer? Do you have any other recommendations? I don't specifically need HDMI 2.1, but as I said, I want something that will last.
- What would you choose for the subwoofer? Polk HTS 10 or Polk HTS 12?
- I read so much good thing about Dirac live. Is it really that great or Audyssey MultEQ XT32 is enough ?
- Any other ideas ?
I don't want the best, but definitely not the worst.
Thank you in advance for your help.
P.S. I have attached a plan of the room like it will be in my head.
