I am new to the wireless headphone/earbud game. I am 62 years old by the way. I recently got the Sennheiser momentum true wireless 4 buds. I have to stuff the large eartips to get a decent seal. It is a little uncomfortable. The bass is good, but i feel i should be getting a little more of it. Would it help to get the Comply memory foam tips? If so do I get large tips since that is what I use with the silicone tips?

Hi @Scoot! Welcome to ASR.

Earbud fit and seal is highly individual, and so asking for the best ear tips is kind of like asking online which shoes would fit you best.

In the end, you'll just have to try out a whole bunch and see which ones fit you.

What helps me assess fit is to listen to some EDM with consistent, repetitive bass kicks and then try various ear tips.

If the bass shifts to either the left or the right side, then the respective ear tip seals better. Rinse and repeat until you have strong bass response and centered sound and you're good to go.

For Bluetooth earbuds, you ideally want to use ear tips made for TWS as those are more shallow and will not interfere with the charging case.

Regular ear tips made for wired earbuds (also called in ear monitors/"IEMs") can make the earbuds no longer sit flush in the case to a point where they'll no longer charge correctly.

One brand that makes great ear tips for wireless earbuds is Azla: https://store.azla.co.kr/search?type=product,article,page&q=Tws

I'm using the Crystal for TWS myself on a pair of Galaxy Buds+ and really like them.

Thankyou. I get what you mean. I think I will go ahead and try the Comply memory foam tips first. Reading up on them it seems like that would be my best bet. I am going to get the large tips.

The Comply site says they are made for the Sennheiser momentum true wireless 4 and they will not interfere with charging.

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger. No earbud tip will stay in my ears for more than about 20 seconds...except the generic expanding foam kind.

Thanks for the replies. When I get different tips I will give my opinion on them.

My Comply tips came. They were a little difficult to get on but I figured it out. You have to be quick about getting it in your ear and in the right position. One took 2 tries and the other took 3 but I got them to seal. They sound great. Tons of bass, but doesn't cover up full mids. I did eq the treble at 8000hz up 1/2 a decibel. They sound just a touch darker with the foam tips but the eq fixed that. They are comfortable. I am sure I will get to where it only takes 1 try getting them in. With the silicone tips I had to fiddle with them for 10 or 15 min to get a good seal. Passive isolation is much better. I am impressed with them.
Thankyou

I used Comply tips for a year or two, but they tend to hold onto your ear wax and lose their springiness over time.

You can kind of clean them, but that only somewhat delays having to replace them every so often.

At some point and after my sixth pack of new Comply tips I was fed up with effectively yet another subsciption service in my life and sought out well fitting Silicone tips, where one pair will last a lifetime if handled with care.

Ya I guess I will see how long they last. For now, I really like them.
