HEDD Audio HEDDphone D1

sharpness is in the 6-15kHz region and this can not be accurately measured with test fixtures.
While I rather agree with you with that "definition" the problem is that people name subjective attributes differently.

I find the D1 too expensive to buy just to measure the response of the driver accurately in that part of the frequency range so unless someone sends one in for measurements I cannot say if there is sharpness and what can be done about it (modification or EQ).
Like you correctly wrote above even if you and any other measurement rig measure it it won't be able to answer how it will be heard in the treble with different people with different ear geometries, so in the end everyone has to hear it for themselves and ideally use EQ to make it sound nice to them instead of running after every new hype and wasting their money like some have been doing for years.

If nobody else steps up I could send you mine over "the canal" once I can live without them for a while. Is customs an issue EU > UK?

Actually I hope we see more independant measurements. Multiple ideally.
Thanks for the offer.
I am in EU (Netherlands) so if you are also located in EU there is no customs.

thats a review i would be very interested to read, as Solderdude has reviewed the Ollo X1 already, and i would love to learn how they compare.

Don't worry it's only a matter of very few weeks. Can't live without them right now. Still enjoying them daily

Could somebody share PEQ for this headphone? At the moment I'm using AutoEQ from Hangout, tried different target curves, but to be honest, I think it could do better. My preference is neutral with bass boost, but far from bass heads.. It's a pity Amir did not review it yet :)

Somehow I managed to miss this post, even though I've read this whole thread :) Thanks!

Yes.
In a side-by-side comparison, I actually prefer the AR5000—plus, it's only half the price.

could you maybe elaborate a little bit more about this comparison. what are the advantages of each headphone over the other by your listening experience?

Both of these headphones are actually my absolute favorites at the moment, with the Aune taking the top spot.
While the D1 sounds very direct and 'close,' the 5000 feels wider and more 'indirect,' likely due to the angled position of the drivers.

Both headphones are very comfortable, but even here, the Aune is number one. That said, the AR5000 is among the most comfortable headphones I have ever worn.
The bass on both is sensational; it feels authentically fast and punchy. However, I perceive it more physically with the 5000.

In my opinion, the D1's big weakness lies in the range between 1 to about 4 kHz, where it frequently comes across as intrusive. This cannot be fixed with EQ. The Aune, on the other hand, always reproduces this frequency range pleasantly.
In terms of treble, I see the D1 slightly ahead.
I get the slight impression of hearing more detail here.
When I consider how affordable and comfortable the Aune is, and how incredibly 'satisfying' it sounds overall, it’s easy for me to say:
for me, this is the almost perfect headphone!
It sounds pleasant and 'warm,' yet never intrusive, sluggish, or boring.

If anyone should ask me in the near future which headphones they should listen to, I would name exactly these two models.

that is just skill issue imo lol

For intrusive, I guess that you mean a forward upper midrangre, and that can be fixed easily with EQ.

I wouldn't use that target for measurements done on the older KB0065 ear (which is what GadgetryTech uses). I would recommend using the 2013 target (warmer) or the 2015 target (brighter), both of which were actually made on that system.

Filter 6: ON PK Fc 11500 Hz Gain -6.0 dB Q 1.800

There ya go! Try that. If you need more treble feel free to just boost with a high shelf filter of Q: 0.4 and frequency of 2500 Hz (to taste).
Hey Listener love your reviews. I know you have some of your 5128 measurements on squiglink, but I always wondered if we could get the other heaphones.com 5128 measurements on Squiglink (Like Resolves measurements for example). It would be incredibly useful. Or even a way to download the measurements so we could upload the FR? I found the pictures that Resolve uploaded on reddit make it difficult to compare with other headphones. Thanks

D1 vs. Ananda Unveiled

View attachment 497652

So, the comparison is already very interesting, and for me, it has mainly shown one thing: there is only one true driver system, and that is the Dynamic one! Switching from the D1 to the Ananda, everything suddenly sounds wrong.
After a few minutes, the brain gets used to it. The direct switch is intense/crazy (or: quite a shock). The D1 simply sounds much more authentic.
This comparison also makes it clear how important a good punch is to make the music sound authentic. The D1 also sounds much more direct. The Ananda is noticeably more diffuse. Furthermore, and this is the biggest surprise for me: The D1 sounds faster. Amazing! I'll continue listening.
Hi everyone. I just visited a store with a ton of headphones to try. I completely agree with you – the D1 is something special and very good. I listened to a variety of headphones and was intrigued by planar magnetic headphones, but as soon as I put the D1 on, I immediately knew they were the one! Very natural and pleasant sound. I compared them to the Audeze LCD X, HiFiMan HE1000 Stealth Magnetic with a brown headband, and Fiio FT1 PRO. Don't fall for the magical technology of planar magnetic headphones; they sound very strange. Everything seems to be in place, but it doesn't make you want to listen to music. I'm very glad that the seller suggested I listen to them, otherwise I would have wasted money on something I don't need.

700€?! Сенсация!
