Better to use a closed back design if bass reproduction is a priority. It's much more efrficient than open-back. EQ'd to the same levels of bass results in lower distortion for closed-back vs. open-back.

That's my experience, quite a few people with multiple headphones will work out which ones do the best bass after EQ here on ASR. If you have a few different open backed headphones and the bass sounds the same to you after you've EQ'd them all then that's valid for your experience and nothing wrong with that, but it's fairly common that people compare headphone bass capability after EQ.That set me straight
I have the hd 6xx and the bass sounds great when eq'd to oratory1990s recommendations.
Really? Do you listen loud? I find the 6xx bass very good with oratory's EQ, although I don't listen very to protect my hearing.

You think HD6XX does well with bass boost, I think it does bad (relatively) (well the HD600 pretty much the same), and the other guy you're quoting things it doesn't do bass good either - one things for sure though EQ will help in terms of producing better bass in almost any headphone for genres like metal in the case that was being talked about. I don't really listen to any metal apart from the Metallica Black Album (pretty narrow right!) and I don't remember that having lots of super low bass so I'm a bit unsure if Metal is really the best example of music containing difficult to play bass - so I'm inclined to say that EQ'd HD600/6XX could be OK with metal because I'm not certain it has lots of deep bass. I mean I still think HD600 doesn't do bass well, but it's not gonna be particularly critical if the music you're listening to doesn't have deep bass.

Sometimes the solder joints break, you can easily open the back of the cup by removing the grille and check it. Even if it looks good enough, you should try to grab a multimeter and check for continuity using a cable, because sometimes the joint looks good on the outside but it's a cold solder joint:
Most 1More have good bass emphasis. These have noise cancellation and are inexpensive in the US, not sure about Italia.

Yes I did, changed cables.. nothing. 1 works the other doesn't..
Now I'm not good at all to fix these things
I think that I can only consider to replace them... which is not going to be easy

I suppose the occlusion with a closed back is always going to mean better sub bass reproduction than an open back. All I know is that we'll produced albums with plenty of high impact drumming such as Porcupine Tree 'Fear of a Blank Planet' sound very good on my eq'd hd6xx's. I'm 51 years old though so perhaps I'm not the adrenaline addict I used to be
