Hello, i just found this forum. I’m looking for a pair of headphones that are good and reasonably priced (around €100–€250 in my case).

My question is: I currently have a pair of HyperX Cloud III, and I actually have quite sensitive hearing (to the point where I can hear mosquitoes taking off at the far end of my room). The Cloud III cause me some discomfort (i dont know why), which didn’t happen with the HyperX Cloud II.

Since I don’t want to just buy another pair of Cloud II, I’d prefer to invest in something better. What would you recommend for my situation?

Are you specifically looking at gaming headsets? And what does good mean for you - are there any specific qualities other than sound that are important - like closed back, mic, wireless etc?

No need for a mic, i have a desk one, but i would like for it to be wireless.

I don't know why, but the Cloud III headphones cause me considerable discomfort at certain frequencies, so... Sound quallity is the priority i want!

Unless you investigate what exactly is causing you discomfort with the Cloud III, there is no way anyone could give you advice on buying a headphone which won't create that discomfort.

Also, "sound quality" is very subjective with headphones. Unless you can specify a reasonably clear goal like "I want solid bass down to 25 Hz and not too much treble" or "I'd like to try a Harman-tuned pair of cans", it will be infinitely hard to give you any useful recommendation.

I bought a refurbed/returned pair of Sennheiser Momentum 4 headphones. Wireless, very good sound, and very comfortable. List price new is above your budget but the return pair I bought were less than half of list price and were in perfect condition.

Personally I like planar magnetic headphones a lot. In your price budget take a look at the FiiO JT7 which would leave you enough left over for an amplification unit if you'd need one. However, it requires a wired connection and is not bluetooth compatible.

I'm going to screen shot 2 fairly recent snippets from a very well respected technically orientated ASR member's comments here. You'll note that in his opinion these do not require equalizing and that at the time used them daily.

If you are looking for wireless headphones in particular I would suggest Sennheiser HDB630. Their frequency response is a very good starting point, and they support onboard PEQ, so if there are specific frequencies that cause you discomfort, you can lower them in a targeted way. They're expensive but on paper they beat almost every wireless headphone in those ways.

If you want a good sounding wireless headphone at EUR100-250 range, the options become quite limited. Most of wireless headphones at that range is not great.
I'd second Sennheiser HDB630, but its over budget at around EUR420.
Closer to budget at around EUR300 is Audeze Maxwell - its wireless, its sounds great and have some basic equalization capabilities through the app which might help you find and fix the frequency band that seem to be bothering you. It is a bit on the heavier side, so if possible, would be good to give it a try before buying.
rtings.com have a lot of wireless headphone reviews, might be good checking those out as well if you want to stick to max EUR250.
