Any of you gents have experience with or recommendation for a 6-10 foot 1/4" headphone extension cable.
Non-veiling with a enormous soundstage, tremendous bass and incredible PRAT would be prefered. LOL
Oh yea, and cheap too. ;)

No, my extender doesn't stretch that much.

I use this one:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017Y4NA1U/

It sounds much much better - with tighter bass and more air.

No, actually it doesn't. But it sounds the same to my ear. :p
Kool, that's exactly the one I was looking at on ebay.
I was just a bit worried that due to the thick construction they might be a bit heavy. But being at the amp end that part will probably be laying on the floor.

Maybe then I'll need cable lifters? LOL

No. It's not heavy. It's quite soft as well. I was happily surprised by the quality. :)

You want one with not too heavy plugs (they hurt and scratch things) that will easily pull out when you inevitably trip over the lead or it gets caught down the side of the chair cushion when you stand up.

I recommend flexible musical instrument shielded cable with a cotton stringer (Canare etc) and heatshrink over the metal plugs.

I had one custom made by Blue Jeans cable.

Mine is RCA on one end, Neutrik 1/4" jack on the other, 10' long

That's a good option though I think if may be somewhat costly.
Thanks!

I made years ago one with Van Damme star-quad XKE. Neutrik jack and Rean. I hardly use headphones because of the discomfort and heat in summer.

To use them more would have changed the Rean connector by the Neutrik NJ3FC6-BAG. I know, It is ugly but holds the extension very well!

if I were you, I would buy the e-Bay Canare Quad extension.

The logical thing is that ALL the wiring of the headphones, at least the external one, uses the star-quad geometry.

BTW, audiophile star-quad cable but not extension:

GRIMM Star Quad Master balanced audio cable XLR-TRS, 60 cm

Used with an exceptional phono stage (with tubes) with balanced and unbalanced outputs. Connected to the ADC. Better sound with balanced.

I make mine with the thinnest three-core mains cable I can get, typically 5 amp rated. Work fine and costs peanuts. I've also used ordinary twisted pair balanced screened cable, just depends what's around at the time I need the extension. I suppose theoretically, the mains cable would have less capacitance, but frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn.

I was looking for the invoice and couldn't find it, but I recall it being in the neighborhood of $50 fo 10 feet.

It uses their BJC MSA-1 cabling, you can find the calculator here:

https://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/audio/MSA1.htm
Yep, that turns out to be $52.75.
I'm sure it's a super fine cable but IMO a bit more than I need to spend to get a transparent quality cable.
Thanks a ton for your input!

Hi, can you comment on the quality of the MSA-1 cable? And is it heavy?

It seems that it can be figured to have 1/4 TRS male on the one end, and Y-split with two 1/8 TS male on the other.
Then I can replace my original Focal Clear cable, which is too heavy for my liking.

Yeah, for TRS to TRS, you don't need to pay that much.

I was looking for RCA to TRS, which is actually hard to find.

Have you considered TRS patch cables? They're pretty cheap in long lengths, things like:

Yea, I decided to pull the plug on Pig-Hog pro cables. Very inexpensive and if it should fail I'm not out much.
