HDMI ARC/eARC: How To Convert/Extract Audio?

Is there any high-quality converter that can make HDMI ARC/eARC devices (like a TV/Monitor) work with DACs that are not equipped with HDMI inputs?

I'm mainly interested in preserving a lossless digital signal rather than the ARC/eARC control functionality.

Well... that is very expensive...

Am I after a very complicated task? I should add that I'm fine with just 2.0 stereo for the moment.

ARC, very easy: a random HDMI extractor with ARC capabilities and spdif output, there are many
eARC, very difficult and/or expensive. The good news is that if you dont need multichannel, ARC is probably enough

I would use a WiiM Ultra. This didn’t work in my use case because the Apple TV 4K doesn’t downmix lfe into stereo and nor does the WiiM Ultra when fed a multichannel signal.

You must have Fosi ZD3 to receive audio signal in HDMI eARC. The old TV doesn't have HDMI eARC. And, the Apple TV is the main source for Apple Music Hi-Res Lossless which come only from HDMI, cannot SPDIF optical from TV.
So, Bob is your uncle, Hi Ress Lossless 24bit-192Khz Apple Music to your speakers.

Apple TV does not have screen. It's a TV box/streamer only. Where to show the display? Does Fosi ZD3 or other DACs have screen? Where is the screen? Inside the box?

to utilize the WiiM Ultra HDMI eARC input , to connect CD player as transport (with optical out)
it's cheap and it works

You must have a separate display, in order to view the video content.

Most people already own a "TV" into which they may plug all manner of video streaming devices, maybe Roku, set-top boxen from a cable company, tuners for OTA reception, computers with movie files on them, etc etc
