HD600 vs Sundara as "endgame" neutral sound/music production headphones.

A lot of folks find the HD600 boring. No boom-tizz.
For music production (when speakers are not an option) the HD600, once you know how it translates to results on speakers, is a good option.
Production is not about music enjoyment but getting the recording right.

So my Thieaudio Ghost arrived and for €43 I definitely can't complain, but it is a 'cheap headphone'.

Here are some brief measurements (with my KB501X + 711 coupler) - compared to my HD600:

With the distortion measurements I don't think it is advisable to EQ the bass:

But for a bit of EQ fun I did pair it with my new JA11 PEQ dongle and some EQ:

The JA11 is a very limited (and has some bad bugs at the moment) but it is also very cheap!!
The Ghost feels very cheap, I think I will replace the pads, the cable is poor (but I have lots of cables) and it won't suit some peoples heads as there isn't allot of flexibility, but at the sale price it is excellent value I think.

But listening to this combination and it sounds excellent.

Thank you for the measurements, very appreciated, looking for you to make them available at your squig to generate some eq.
Yes, for €43 they are a bargain and not much can be complained. As for the cheap feel, I can't comment much, I only own cheap headphones, 2 Samson that feels way worse and Senns HD599 SE that all in all are not much better than Ghost. But the Senns costed me €100 (some years ago prime day), so no match.

The Sundara is technically a better headphone than a 600. The Ghost looks interesting but only if heavily discounted. It is no Sennheiser. The Sundara and 6 series Sennheisers are different enough to warrant having and enjoying both imho.

It's all about matching the audio gears to the headphones. I have the Senns 6xx and 600 as well as Sundara and Edition XS. The Hifimans are better with warmer sound setup such as schiit bifrost 2/asgard 3 setup and Aune S7/Topping d70 whereas the Senns are excellent with any Topping/Singxer sa1 amp for their more linear and analytic sound. Of course, these are my subjective observations.

used to think akg k702 great, but now holding 560s, sundara and fidelio x3, can't decide which is best, so keeping all of them for neutral cans game
