I don't want to downplay the problem addressed in the report, but given that large quantities of PVC are still used everywhere in our immediate surroundings and living spaces, especially in the audio/hi-fi sector, most people (over 99%) seem indifferent to such toxins.
PVC is one of the most toxic plastics, with demonstrably high emissions that harm the environment, humans, animals, and plants during production, use, and disposal. There is no meaningful recycling option.
Even its use in kitchens, for cooking, food production, flooring/carpets (where babies crawl on the floor), etc., is completely normal. The same applies to its use as insulation for almost all cables, whether audio signal, power, IT, etc.
Good alternatives have been available for a long time, but profit margins are simply higher with PVC.
Due to this problem, which also poses a risk to employees, some car manufacturers began switching their wiring to TPE insulation some time ago.
