Has anyone used manual parametric equalization for room correction?

[…] I think it is better not to give people the impression that YPAO uses FIR when it is more likely IIR.
Or vice versa. ;)

As to the R.S.C. part, my understanding is that it is on the measurement side of things, not filtering.
Same source, different article:

YPAO R.S.C. uses a combination of FIR filtering, which is not shown on the front-end of the receiver and a layer of PEQ on top of that.

[…]

The only saving grace here is that YPAO allows you to copy one of their frequency curves to a manual slot while keeping both the FIR filters and the PEQ filters.

Or vice versa. ;)

Same source, different article:

3rd party info, I read things from the Yamaha website and no mentioning of FIR. RSC, seems to be about measuring, data collection but not filter creation, that I assume is done by YPAO. By the way, your original point was for me to read GxAlan’s, that I did.

There are still enough maybe there, so you may be right, or as you said vice versa lol. I’ll just leave it at that. If there are info from sources that are more authoritative, I would love to read, though the Simplehomecinema site is one of my favorite website on the RC/EQ basics overall.
