Here are my speakers (harmonic distortion) the old 12.1 version i own the 12.1 i

96 db not so good but it's also max (not shure what fr it is at and distance, wharfedale just say 96db)

At a few inches from my woofer i can easily get 90 db or more without it sounding agressive, at 1 meter it requires more volume for 86dd, which is one of the spl used for harmonic distortion and what a speaker often can do at a good harmonic distortion

When erins corner and amirm is doing measurements of harmonic distortion, sometimes 76db or above 96db, both do use 86 and 96 db just about every time

But at what distance ?

Wiim streamer i can limit the volume when my vibelink is at 100% but what music to use ? (i don't wanna use test tones since im only listening to that when doing room correction)

What music is recommended to use ?

I think these measurements are done on the Klippel NFS so the distance isn't literally 1m, but I think they are calculated to be equivalent to 1m. In general if a distance is not specified for a dB SPL number, I assume it is at 1m.

To do distortion measurements with REW you have to use test tones.

I think you can do it with music if you use Deltawave, but it's trickier.

If you decide to use music instead of tones for distortion measurement (I don't advise this, I think it will take more work and give you questionable results) you should find music that has a good amount of energy across the entire frequency range. Genres I would look at first - electronic (I can't stop by Flux Pavilion is very broadband), pop with strong percussion, alternative rock / metal.

Not doing distortion measurements, i just wanna try the almost at 100% volume on my amp, to have a limit of 86 db or all the way up

It's just that if 86db is all the way up on my amp with loud recorded music, there are music, film, streamer that can't get close to 86db

oh f........

#2 didn't even notice that either ???

Actually measuring at 1 meter may leave you with a high noise floor. A popular approach is to measure with your mic at 31.5 cm at 96dB and 106dB which are equivalent to the 1 meter SPL of 86dB and 96dB.

The Canadian NRC used two meters, which made their tests up to 100 dB for the speakers that could do it all the more impressive. But, of course, that was in an anechoic chamber. In the chamber there is no room reinforcement, and two meters needs 6 dB more SPL than at one meter.

With REW, I use the listening position, which is greater than two meters by a hair. Here's an example with my Revel F12's.

I think when the REW traces lose their color it's because that harmonic is too affected by noise. But I may have that wrong.
