Happy New Year - 2026

Already 9 hours and 19 minutes into 2026 down here in KiwiLand (for reference it's 3:19pm in NY, 8:19 pm in London, 5:19 pm in Buenos Aires and 10:19pm in Johannesburg)
Nothing to rave about..seems pretty much the same as 2025....same bunch of arseholes running the world but at least in KiwiLand we are managing to keep them at bay. We have a very strong "no dickheads" ethos down here which covers all facets of our lives including politicians and rich/entitled pricks.
From a personal perspective, very little of what's happening affects me or my wife directly (noting we also have little power to change it).
My wife and I (with Ruby the Ridgeback) are happily retired, we thankfully through opportunity and hard work have no money issues and no health issues..but as a slice of the 8 Billion Homo Sapiens, people like my wife and I are very much in the minority.
And yet, there is more than enough money sloshing around the world to provide every Homo Sapien with a decent life..I have certainly lost my respect for Homo Sapiens as a species. Our much vaunted higher order brains seem to have a fatal flaw..namely an excess of irrational hate.
Anyways, hope my fellow ASRians have a peaceful 2026 and don't let the subjectivists/anti-science cultists win!!!

Amen, to this! Finished last quarter of '25 with a significant back injury (Genelec was my demise) and hoping the new year brings healing & strong functionality/performance gains.May 2026 be better than 2025
