Does the Gustard X26 pro need to be connected to a computer to upgrade the firmware? How? and how do you connect it to the computer?

Yes. Via USB output from computer to USB input on the DAC.

Is this the most recent firmware file? I have another one from a post here in October that is different, and the file dates on this one here seem possibly outdated. Which is the most recent version please?

Yes the F20 beta released in Oct is now the most current.
