Thank you all for looking and for your valuable inputs.

The DAC only has analog out... so RCA analog out to RCA analog in on the receiver.

There's really no need to have an external DAC here, as your receiver has its own DAC anyway. Either way you're still limited by the noise and distortion of the amp itself.

If you're using any kind of DSP/room correction then the analog in will be digitised anyway... otherwise using a pure direct mode should skip that.

Just connect it to any analog input except the one marked Phono. In any mode except Pure Direct the signal from r26 will be converted to digital and then internal DAC in the receiver will convert it back to analog, which is kind of pointless if you’re looking to experience the “R2R magic”.

You can use a USB cable to connect your Apple devices to the DAC, you will need a camera connection lighting dongle unless your Apple devices use usb-c. This is the best option if you play hi-res material.

Yes my iphone is type c. That means i can directly connect iphone to R26. And connect receiver to R26 with rca cables and receiver in pure direct mode.

I have also read online about using LAN connection to connect R26 for best results. Do you know anything about it?

USB-C to USB-B cable should be all you need then. As far as the streamer module, I'm reading your options are currently limited to UPnP and Roon. If you can find a way to stream Apple music through them that may be another way to do it.

Underwhelming, but what's there is probably enough.

If i use type c to b cable i dont need upnp or roon to stream music. Right? I can directly use the apple music app on my iphone. ?

But i’ve 30 days to return.
My suggestion is to return it, as all you really might need here is a simple streamer using digital outs, like;

The VSX-1131 has streaming functions anyway... Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, Google Cast, AirPlay etc.

I had a wiim pro plus before. I could clearly hear the difference in sound. With wiim sound was less bright and full compare to 1131.

As far as connecting analogue outputs to your receiver that’s simple as stated above.

How you do streaming with the R26 is an interesting question with a few answers. Many people use different solutions with great results. The R26;is very flexible and has multiple options.

1. Connect the Ethernet cable to R26 and use the R26 streamer. Do this and you see a ‘gustardrenderer’ on the network that you can connect to with some streaming software: JPlay on IOS is great but you have to pay, mconnect on iOS is rubbish but free and works, there are other options if you are using a laptop.

2. Use an external streamer and connect to R26. Plenty of options here, most cost effective is probably WIim mini connected to R26 via toslink. This is cheap, software works very well and reliably and sounds great.

3. Connect your phone /computer directly using usb. If this suits your layout then try it, it’s not suitable for my listening but should sound fine.

Give the R26 a chance, it’s very flexible, extremely well made, and sounds great (IMO).

i have connected R26 to the receiver using rca cables. And have directly connected my iPhone to the r26 via usb for streaming. My question is in order to use the external dac r26 do i have turn on ‘pure direct’ mode on the receiver? If i do that the sub wont work.

All DACs sound the same.

Yes, in order to use your external DAC you need to turn on Pure Direct. Otherwise, your receiver will digitise the signal to apply DSP (that's a good thing).
