GSonic Reference – Free Stereo Room Correction Tool (Measurement + FIR Export)

What are you on about? Have you read about it? Was there anything promised but not delivered?

It is not intended for crossovers or bass management

Only for stereo, and only Room correction, or overall-system EQ filters.

Try for knowledgeable questions, rather than just shooting from the hip.
 
Is this a solution to place GSonic into my audio chain? DAC/USB-C Out -> USB-C/In - MiniPC N150 Windows Pro-> USB-C Out -> MiniDSP USB-C In

You need a convolution host on the MiniPC for these filters. EqualizerAPO, Roon and JRiver all can host FIR filters or via a DAW with a reverb/convolution plugin.
 
Yes, I use HLC to host 8 separate convolution channels - great app! I'm sure there are a few more apps out there for Windows that can host FIR too.

So, yes. I would suggest simplifying, the PC can handle your xovers just fine. Given enough ports of course, might need to consider ADAT expansion

On the miniDSP, I do the subwoofer crossover with the mains and the PEQ generate for the subwoofer by REW. The convolver handles the wav files from GSonic for the mains. Any recommendations for a miniPC that runs EqualizerAPO and is inserted between my DAC and room correction box (miniDSP)? USB connects runs between the boxes would be my preferred solution.

Thus no miniDSP needed for anything.

The USB interface with analog output PORTS from the PC **is your DAC**, from there direct to power amps.

Which these days could also be digital to digital, AES/EBU or S/PDIF, same same.

Lots to unpack here. The miniDSP is connected directly to the amplifier. It functions as a preamp/volume controller and splits the incoming L/R signal into an LFE to the subwoofer after applying the crossover with the mains and PEQ. The reason why I want to insert the miniPC into the chain is to have the FIR applied to all my audio sources; CD, turntable, and streamer.

Just curious as to what miniPC and software you would recommend? Thanks.
 
@Calypso1 I completely misunderstood what you were trying to accomplish with running audio from CD/turntable/streamer INTO a PC to do correction for all sources. This becomes a little more complicated and, while possible, probably deserves a separate thread as we are straying far from GSonic now.

I could tell you how I do it on a Mac, no clue for PC. You don't tell us which miniDSP device you have (how many channels, analog input?) and you'll need an ADC to bring the turntable into the mix of course. A Motu M4 would work replacing whatever miniDSP but I have no idea on the software side for Windows.
 
I think there could be a relatively easier way to implement this.

Right now I’m tied up with the measurement tool release, so I can’t promise a timeline. This app is still pretty early (only ~120 downloads of the last release so far), so I’m prioritizing features carefully but suggestions like this are really helpful.

First of all, I would like to express my gratitude for the work done so far.

After spending quite a bit of time performing accurate measurements with GSonic Reference, I ended up with a result remarkably similar to yours: excellent correction on the individual left and right channels, but a pronounced dip in the combined L+R response.

My room has a similar asymmetry as well, namely an opening on the right side of the listening position.

I'd also love to see this feature implemented.

Let me try to fill the holes. I use a product from the miniDSP company called ADEPT which is a phono preamp and A2D converter, meaning I am using a COAX out from this device and into the DAC. The DSP is a miniDSP FLEX with USB, COAX, OPT, and RCA inputs, outputing 4 RCA channels. L/R/Sub with one RCA output remaining unused. What would your MAC solution look like?

I use an Okto Dac8Pro for this but any pro interface with digital and analog input would work though you have an ADEPT which takes care of the analog. Not sure if the Flex can do this, I think it only accepts digital input but you need a device that's bi-directional with that USB signal.

I have tried moving the speaker and microphone.
How do I solve this problem?

FL timing: both chirps were detected but their spacing is off by +693 ppm - a strong room reflection is being mistaken for the direct sound. This is acoustic, not a settings problem: move the mic or the speaker slightly (even 10-20 cm changes the geometry), then click Repeat. If it persists at this position across attempts, try a different mic position.

This could be a hardware issue unless you have very severe reflections around the speaker. Did you check all devices sampling rates are 48kHz?
 
And also check your ETC for loud and early reflections.
