GSonic Reference – Free Stereo Room Correction Tool (Measurement + FIR Export)

Thanks for the reply. I did a REW measurement beforehand which did not exhibit this issue.
Generally I use REW with a file measurement. For this measurement, I unfortunately had to link 3 USB cables into the DAC given my MLP is about 5 meters away (and my Umik cable is short).
Could it be that's the pcm audio path problem and is there any way I can use a sweep file for the measurement?
Adding extension cables to Umik is the most probable cause. Maybe someone can suggest a proven to work extension cable.
 
I use one USB-A extension cable with the Umik and no problems. 3 cables might be pushing it. Getting the DAC/PC closer to the MLP would be a better option if possible
 
Please see this thread here in the AVNirvana REW support forum. The OP's very strange results were eventually traced to a long USB cable.

And remember, just because YOU don't have a problem with long USB cables, doesn't mean that others won't. I hate USB cables, somehow they are unreliable and flaky. I throw them out after a few years because they inevitably go bad. I bought an expensive 2m cable from Belden (AUD$100!!) thinking it would be more reliable, but now it is starting to act flaky. YMMV.
 
The following is only as accurate as AI imagination but sharing it nonetheless:

The real problem is that a long extension cable degrades the digital rise/fall times of the square waves representing the data. Because it's an isochronous stream, the receiving computer cannot ask for a retry when those square waves get sloppy. It just drops the samples on the floor, altering the digital data stream itself before it ever reaches your measurement software.
 
I use one USB-A extension cable with the Umik and no problems.
Extension cables are specifically prohibited in the USB 2.0 standard, unless it's active (which would be a device with a captive cable.) That's because there's no way you could guarantee the extended cable would still comply with the requirements, so the result is inherently unreliable. They don't specify a maximum cable length - it just has to meet the electrical specifications like voltage drop at rated current and propagation time.

I think it's mixing terms a bit. The USB audio spec doesn't have a retransmission mechanism if errors are detected. Transmission errors due to an out-of-spec extended cable aren't the only possible issue though. The extended cable could also drop the 5V supply out of spec which could cause problems with the analog and/or digital electronics in a bus powered device like the mic.

Yep the cables are the culprits. Will try finding an alternative. Sounds like playing the sweeps from a file is not an option at this stage.

Hands down, this is the best my 2.1 system has ever sounded.

Right now it looks like serkan manually replies to license issues. I plan on updating my pc in the coming year and don't want to deal with license transfers and such. Is there any long term plan to make this more sustainable or less individually involved?
 
I managed to find single cables (long USB-C from Umik, shorter USB from DAC). However, the measurements still look different from REW - see Left and Right channels.
Missing FR below 170h and lose HF above 3500h. Is there anything else I can try to get similar measurements as REW?
Noticed the ppm range between -90-100 hence not sure if this is the cause - if so how to fix it?

At the moment, I manually grant extensions for GSonic Immersive when there’s a genuine need. That said, I can’t guarantee I’ll be able to keep doing so indefinitely (life expectancy and all that). In any case, even today’s audio formats tend to have a finite lifespan.

Also, a heads-up: the introductory price of the app is increasing from $59.99 to $74.99 in about 20 hours.
 
Noticed the ppm range between -90-100
Clock drifts above 30-35ppm are not natural and the graphs look like there's a sample rate mismatch between your devices. Make sure you follow the instructions carefully.
 
What does A1 Evo Acoustix compatible imply? (Near end of video).
It generates a json file from the averaged measurements that can be fed to A1X for optimization and filter transfer.

GSonic Reference is a cross-platform room/speaker correction tool for stereo systems. It includes built-in measurement capability and generates convolution filters (FIR) that can be used with engines like Equalizer APO, CamillaDSP, Roon, JRiver, HQPlayer, etc.

Not at all, this is a Atmos home cinema system measurement tool.

If you play music from a PC, yes! Its measurements and created filters are far more advanced.
 
Sorry, that answer was not clear to me? I have no interest in Atmos or any proprietary decoding, nor using a PC as a music player, just as convolver (maybe) and occasiinal films.

95% music only.

Would I need to turn off Audyssey in the AVR when using the convolution filters - or will the corrections improve if I measure with Audyssey operating.
