Honestly I’m not sure what to make of Peerless with respect to their relationship with DIY. I did some designs with their 830-869 nomex and shallow-depth dome woofers not long before each was discontinued. I see they’re back now, but for how long? And are they the same? It’s too bad, because sometimes they sell things that are cool and unique and decent value.

I do not want to blame anyone publicly, as I had no specific insight in decisions and actors involved along the supply chain. Whether or not it was the fault of the producer, of distributors, or middlemen, I cannot reconstruct. Only that the result was not what we had anticipated.

When the problem surfaced, I informed everyone about their legal option to step back from their purchase, as guaranteed by EU law. This was all I could do at the time. Personally, I would prefer to leave it here, its speculative.

But I would not repeat it, as it resulted in a somewhat unlucky outcome, to say the least.

Seems like the fault obviously lies with the manufacturer of the driver. Unless the other folks involved are taking them apart and messing them up intentionally, all problems described point to lazy QC from the manufacturer.
