Update notice:

We are expecting to receive the dispatch notice around December 25. The drivers will then transfer to maritime transport to Germany and are expected to arrive by the end of January or the beginning of February.

Update notice: The drivers are expected to arrive at the port of Hamburg on February 13, to be transferred to Bavaria within 7 days. Delays may occur, however, when you find an invoice in your mailbox, this is the unambiguous sign they are ready to be sent to your address.

:)

If anyone ordered more than they needed or has buyer remorse, I would take three.

Mickey

Those who ordered can expect an email in the upcoming days.

has everyone received an email for their drivers?

has anybody decided what sort of project they're going to use their drivers in yet ? I was thinking I'd like to use them in a coax but the only one that comes without a hf is the eminence cx12 or 10 .that driver uses a screw in mounting does anyone know of any other coax drivers sold without the hf driver? or is there an adapter to let me use the peerless with a screw in thread (would that mess up the sound somehow ) . thanks James

Hi all, how did this work out? I’m making A460D horns and if they were available I’d be interested in buying some.

Hi all, how did this work out?
The charge we received from Tymphany did not live up to the standards of the original production. To be honest, sadly, it was a disappointment.

The Celestion CDX1-1720 seems to be a viable alternative.

It's sad to hear that the Peerless was a disappointment, some of the old posts I found made it look really promising for the price! Thanks for letting me know about the Celestion.

Yes, so much work (and some money)...

We have all been eyeing the new compression driver from LaVoce, the DN07.10LTF. This could be a perfect device for home listening levels, for it's low fs due to the special silk suspension, and the titanium diaphragm. Additionally, the very small exit of only 0.75" enhances the very high frequency dispersion as it reduces cancellation and beaming.

I'm sorry to hear this.

What was the issue?
Do you have some comparative measurements?

It is scattered over threads on diyaudio, I am too lazy. They (Tymphany) seemingly did not perfectly center the diaphragm assembly in the plastic tray holding and fixing the diaphragm and voice coil via two screews to the magnet assembly. This resulted in some rubbing of the VC in the magnet gap with some, not all, but many of the drivers ordered. This then resulted in an moderate impedance peak around 1 kHz, which translates into a dip in the frequency response at the frequency. The datasheet states a recommended crossover and bandwidth of 1.5 kHz upwards, so technically Tymphany delivered according to their specs, albeit a somewhat questionable longevity is probably implied. For us, the driver was interesting to cross really low and extend the bandwidth of the compression driver further down, which was only anymore attainable for active solutions (requires a peaking PEQ to flatten the response), higher H3 distortion, and, as I said, some doubts about longevity. So, this shows one cannot trust the performance of a given driver based on a much earlier production run.

So they probably didn't start a new production for you, but send you the factory rejects which failed the final rub&buzz test. Those Indonesians know how to make money.
