If you want for this to work properly and get reasonable CMR, you MUST insert a resistor into the "RCA Ground" branch ...

I bought a Neutrik adapter (Neutrik NA2 MPMF) which does this - would the Neutrik include such a resistor? There is no suggestion on their website that it does?

Just use a multimeter to check if there is a resistor present (or not).
