Our new pair of Grimm Audio’s LS1be ( berylium ) arrives next week!
https://www.grimmaudio.com/
These are Grimm’s latest and greatest iteration of the LS1 with Berylium tweeters and digital motion control subwoofers.
We stocked the original LS1 and it was superb, I heard the ‘be’ version and I thought they sounded great.
With the addition of the LS1 we bring together the three most exciting loudspeakers currently available.
Kii Audio’s THREE, Dutch&Dutch’s 8C and the LS1be.

It should be genuinely interesting, Bruno was instrumental in the design of the LS1, moved on to the Kii Three, and I know that Martijn of D&D respects both designs.
All three are different yet share many design imperatives.

The new ‘be’ versions arrive next week, this pair pictured next to the vastly more expensive but in terms of sound quality much poorer Cessaro ‘Chopin’ are the original LS1 in black.

I have both a pair of Dutch & Dutch 8cs and a pair of Grimm LS1be speakers, so I'm very curious to hear what you think. Will you also have the MU1 to feed the Grimm speakers?

I should probably ask you what you think of them?
Whereabouts are you Aaron, Grimm and D&D aren’t widely known/stocked.

I don't have the 8cs set up optimally yet, I will need the Roon update to do that and better stands. They sound excellent. The Grimm be w/ the dmf units are the best I've ever heard, although I haven't heard the B & O. They are not flashy in any way, but they are the most realistic and versatile speakers I know of, and the bass is absurdly swift, deep, and dynamic. USA (got the Grimms when they still had a us dealer and updated them).

I can’t wait for mine to arrive, I really liked the first iteration, I much preferred them to the Genelec 8260 /7270 combination I had at the time , in retrospect perhaps the Grimm were just too far ahead of their time.
I do seem to remember them being quite a bit cheaper back then though!

I think the equivalent of the LS1 has held steady, but I'm not sure.

Grimm have said they are going to arrive this week!
The original pair literally ‘ate’ these Cessaro horns ( what was I doing messing with horns)

That is just one example of a horn speaker, and clearly not state of the art (well, the drivers certainly still are, but not the implementation).

You live and learn.
Still it is a matter of implementation. JBL M2 is , semantics be damned, a horn speaker.

Can you point me to a ‘state of the art’ horn ?

Waveguide rather than horn surely?
Two way passive crossing to bass reflex is that really state of the art?

Horns vs waveguide is more semantic than anything else: directivity shaping and on-axis sensitivity go hand in hand.

By the way, the M2 is not a passive system: the passive network only act as a protection/pad and each driver has its own amplifier channels and EQ/filters settings.
Maybe you should give them a listen...

This is intended to be rude so please don't take it this way. Do you actually sell any of the gear you show? I see you on every forum saying similar things and just can't imagine how you have time to post on forums and sell anything.
