Yeah but the chocolate though. Did IKEA send chocolate? I don't think so.The 40 times cheaper IKEA scores a bit higher and goes in the bass deeper
Seriously now, I find it for $8k not good enough, FR shows too large wiggles, vertical directivity isn't also optimal and it has the mentioned distortion issue. In a $1k loudspeaker I could overlook these but not at that price region.
I too hope in a review of the Powersoft mezzo, I am a happy owner of the two-channel model without dsp (A322) that I use as a power amplifier combined with a Topping A90 / D90SEI would have been curious to see the Powersoft on the bench as well! Hope there will be a chance in the future.
But they have KoettbullarYeah but the chocolate though. Did IKEA send chocolate? I don't think so.
Looks a good speaker, but way overpriced. The parts are stock B&C drivers (woofer is the 8MDN51, tweeter probally a B&C also), a CSA horn that is nothing special (but probally works well) and the Powersoft standard modules for smaller systems that are sold as OEM to builders. That is not worth that price i think.
I know a guy in the region of Brussels, Belgium, who makes a diy system like that (exact the same config with the same dsp and amp modules) that sell it on small scale for about 3K + taxes for a stereo setup. It's not on the official market, but hand build on order for those who know it (not advertised) as custom garden system by a woodworker who is also a speaker builder as sidejob. He uses the DE250 compression driver in a very similar horn made OEM for him by B&C. It does sound very good altough with a subwoofer (he builds a sub with 12" B&C drivers for it, not included in the price, but running from the same amplifier module). And it's very popular down here for garden parties with electronic dance music and so...
I can't tell, but i can tell you are interested to him. It's a bit only for "those who know him" style as it's not really his bussiness but more a hobby that became a sidebussiness. His bussiness is custom wood furniture and other woodwork for outside, not speakers. And he is mainly focussing on the french speaking upperclass in Brussels and Brabant Wallon (aka he does not speak Dutch). I know him because of my ex who lives in Wavre and has a system from him (with the subs). She asked my opinion before she bought it.Who's the builder? (am about 50min from Brussels)
Was just curious if he's 'approachable' and perhaps interested in a meet-up to compare some designs (I'm also a hobbyist builder) or if he is strictly business with no real further interest. Also, we have another Brussels based member: @abdo123 if you're interested in a cabinet maker for R2 when we finish it ..I can't tell, but i can tell you are interested to him. And 50 min from Brussels is not near to Belgian standards, I'm also at that distance, and that is in the west of the Hainaut province...
He won't be interested i think. He is very busy and has a working product. Even those speakers he just made because clients asked him for it. And people with good woodworking skills are always in high demand these days i'm affraid. I tried to approach him for a build but he said "no time".Was just curious if he's 'approachable' and perhaps interested in a meet-up to compare some designs (I'm also a hobbyist builder) or if he is strictly business with no real further interest. If you need a custom build, i know a guy in Kortrijk that may be able to build it for you. He is also a more specialised speaker builder, but mostly for dub systems and system ment for other bass heavy music. But he said he is also open for custom work when he got paid right... https://www.facebook.com/Stakx1/reviews/?ref=page_internal
We don't even get to see what the true FR is in a direct line perpendicular to the baffle?
Score is low in part due to wide dispersion, a “flaw” of the scoring formula. But also note Amir recommended it for its application, not for a listening room setup.Lowest score recommended speaker yet?
Not even a CNC-ed flat pack .Well it's not for me, I can make my own cabinets - just don't have the time to build them for someone else and haven't had good luck finding someone who can.

CNC shops can do that. I got good experiences with Haesens Hout in Gent. They can supply high quality birch ply (what i mostly use) and many other wood products and have a very good CNC shop. It's not cheap altough. I did most of my builds like that as i only recently got a router and i'm still learning how to work with that thing (I'm not a formally trained woodworker, it's stricktly diy skills). You need to provide the (CAD) drawings and clear instructions and they cut the wood to size and do the cnc work for you. Assembly and finish is for you.Well it's still quite a bit of work since I still have to manually make each cut (and over multiple passes). I am on the lookout (as you can see) for people who can do this more easily (and quicker).
