My favorite if not the best interpretation of The Lark Ascending. Really beautiful.

Perhaps I should have thought about it before firing it off on a foreign language, I meant more like goosebumps becoming smiles of pure chemical processes in my brain :)
If well-performed, there are more than a few goosebump moments in the German Requiem, imho.

Coming back to the topic, I was listening with joy this recording today:

Sergiù Celibidache: Brahms: Ein Deutsches Requiem/Symphony No.1

I know, there are fans and haters of maestro’s tempo choices. I just enjoyed it today with my just arrived @Audiophonics HPA-S400ET, connected directly to my Topping E30 (version 1) as DAC and volume control. Maybe it was the new amp, or it is a really good recording. Or both?

Happy listening. Ok, it is a Requiem. But the performance still made me smile many times
Nice recording! My favourite performance of this work, so far, is Giulini (1987), with Barbara Bonney and Andreas Schmidt.

How about Brahms - Alto Rhapsody OP.53?

I always go back to the album of Christa Ludwig - Otto Klemperer;

As you can see, this remastered CD album (TOCE-13219 Toshiba - EMI) also contains very nice "Wagner - Wesendonck Lieder" and "Mahler - Fünf Lieder".

I’ve recently been listening to CPO recordings. That’s a pretty good label for sound quality.

One of my favorites has been a bluray of Holst's The Planets (an HD Odyssey) from the Houston Symphony Orchestra directed by Hans Graf (and the videos are a plus).

Here on my project thread, I have already touched on MIRARE Label's stunning recording of piano performance by Iddo Bar-Shaï "François Couperin: Les Ombres Errantes” MIR 195 MIRARE;

You can hear on YouTube;

I also have this wonderful album by Iddo Bar-Shaï "Chopin: Mazurkas” MIR 075 MIRARE;

I had heard about this performance and only recently found a YT video of it. Stravinsky is an acquired taste; so be it. The Jussen brothers, a Dutch piano duo, play a transcription of The Rite of Spring for four hands, one Steinway. It is remarkable, the performance in this live telecast. Try it on for size.

Here are three for consideration under great recordings. Would love to get other's reads of the recording quality and the performances.
