Grado Green3 vs Ortofon OM5e

I'd assume, that Gandy/Rega and Weisfeld/VPI would qualify - and quite possibly also Räke/Transrotor.

P.S.: Reply given under the assumption, that your question would refer to companies, that would already offer turntables back in the 80s or even earlier.

Just to wrap a bow on this little thread- I received my Audio-Technica AT-LPW40WN turntable late last week (with the AT-VM95E). Set it up on Friday and have really been enjoying listening to LP's again. I haven't even been around turntables in so many years, I don't have much in the way of comparison to make- but the combo gives a very pleasing and detailed sound. Using the phono stage in the Wiim Ultra- and playing around with the EQ- it's been a joy. I think whenever it's time for a replacement stylus, I will upgrade to the ML- but I'm currently enjoying the VM95E. I appreciate the recommendation for the AT line- I'm pleased I went that route.
