I dont support the language used here, but pretty much every other audio forum is garbage except for ASR ime. Audio related sub reddits are the worst as the vote system puts misinformation right at the top.
Ahhh...Reddit and it's pseudo-science centric audio groups. Makes for a good laugh now and then, but then I feel sorry for the people being mis-lead. Of course, being contrarian (logical) gets you downvoted to oblivion.

Danny has a definition : charlatan

What is a charlatan? Do you know how they look like?

I have not listened to either speaker. GR Research made all of their modifications based on measurements and no listening tests at all.

It would be interesting to know why you missed such a great opportunity to confirm bad measurements by listening test?

Thought about wording: I isn’t it only an ‘upgrade’ if there is a measured and /or perceived improvement? If not, as seems to be the case here, it’s just a ‘mod’.

You cannot confirm anything with a subjective test other than the tester's opinion

Tonality is not "bad." It is just degraded. Distortion is made worse however. If my ears weren't plugged due to lingering covid, I would have taken a listen.

All the speaker needed were the tube connectors .... because they always seem to improve the sound.
Of course ... only the ones Danny sells. I set for merely $ 59.-

...and remember, minimal copper mass makes those tube connectors superior, whereas humongous copper mass makes his speaker cables superior.

But it is still important, as sometimes nice measurements are not what ears prefer.

If you look on graphs only Tune Tot loos terrible, but Amir wrote he preferred it over better measured Revels.

You missed the key point and it doesn't support your subjectivist conclusion.

"One wonders how much better these would sound if they had had preserved all of this and at the same time didn't have the design errors."

…I did some backgroud research on Danny because I was so angry about this. For those here who don't know. The "G" in GR Research is Jeff Glowacki, the man behind sonicraft, which is the company that imports Sonicaps. Danny and Jeff were business partners, Jeff was the engineer, Danny was the business/marketing guy. Danny tries hard to hide this info, but don't get caught up in this very obvious scam. There are only 2 places to buy sonicaps, at sonic craft's own website and at GR. Of course Danny raves about these capacitors, he is probably paying $1-$2 for these, massive markups and massive profit margins.

The info is out there regarding Glowacki and Richie, not all of it has been succesfully suppressed yet.

Thanks, this explains a lot.

Danny clearly lacks the technical background to be able to discern the difference between science and pseudoscience. His promotion of pseudoscientific nonsense is the most troubling part as he mixes in enough science to mislead other audio enthusiasts. This also explains why GR speakers are hit or miss. Without fully understanding good engineering practices, he gets inconsistent results.
