GR Research B24 AC Cable Review Follow up [Entertainment]

You are free to disagree.
Regardless WHO is taking swipes at someone in a public place IS actually damaging that individual's reputation. Regardless if the critque is valid, who does the slander and who finds it valid.

Having shitloads of money to literally waste on unnecesarilly expensive audio jewelry does not make such a person an authority. It is just someone with money.

Audio jewelry is BIG business and huge amounts of money goes around, just very small numbers of items compared to mass produced/affordable gear.
Great for bragging rights or 'making money disappear from a bankaccount so it isn't taxed every year.

But a known snake oil salesman throwing mud at Amir, that does not stick.
However this particular salesman actually has a decent size following who will take note on what he says, and it’s all on You Tube discoverable by anyone. And there’s also a number of audio reviewers that back him (or at least don’t dispute him), eg reviewer Jay's iyagi posted a very dodgy apparent double-blind test he gave Danny who scored 8/10. Which gives credit to Danny saying he’s passed double blind tests.

But this is just how it is in the online world. Put yourself online and you expose yourself.

One can be both... stupid ignorant and dishonest at the same time.
Yes, but the question is if he believes in his own narration or if he doesn't. One can't say for sure but it's much more probable that he is nefarious if we can prove that he is lying in other matters just to make his business look better - and that we can. In a clip titled 'Making Amends and Taking a New Direction' he brags that his previous clip 'Our goals, Trolls, and the Distorted Truth' received an 85% positive rating. What Danny didn't know is that youtube kept dislike counter in its API, and some apps like YouTube Vanced can be used to view it.

'TYS' means thousands in Polish. Does this look like 85% positive to you? :) It was such well-reviewed clip that he made another one lying about it:) Point is - it is a fact that the guy is a liar.

the question is if he believes in his own narration or if he doesn't.
We don't know and can only take a guess.
Then there is the possibility he does believe most of the things he says and lies about things as well.

Good luck trying to determine that.

Danny is not ignorant about electronics but most certainly lacking in his electronics knowledge.
Then shut up if you don't know (this is a statement towards him, not you ;) ). But that's not what he does. He pretends to know. Is it ignorance or dishonesty?
I also don't think he is dishonest, as in purposely deceiving. I think he genuinely believes in what he says to be true.
That is the ignorant part of it. He thinks he knows but doesn't about quite a few things..
I'm not buying it. He may suffer from some serious Dunning-Kruger, but all the tactics employed by him point towards being willfully dishonest. Somebody who's actually just ignorant would react totally differently to the situation.

Me neither. He has an actual product to sell. Some people are lying for much less than that, or no reason at all.

I'm under no illusions about his integrity, but he might be better off not clashing with Amir so blatantly. That simply lends credence to the idea that Amir is costing him money, which I'm sure is true.

Whilst I applaud the aim of debunking snake oil such as cables, isn’t it just a game of whack-a-mole. Another person will set up a cable making business in his shed or garage and exploit some folks who buy into this stuff.

Is it entirely right / fair to launch this entirely at one business when there are hundreds / thousands of others doing the same who are not being named and shamed here.

Before you all pile in, I get that Danny has come out both fists flying and has inflamed things. He is protecting his business - that’s human nature.

I don’t really know how I feel about this - perhaps it should be a comprehensive test across many manufacturers such that it a) has more weight and b) is not about personalities or individual companies .

I saw such a thing done online with high speed HDMI cables - they measured 00s of them and it was a powerful rebuttal of manufacturer claims when many failed prescribed certification tests.

Hard to do for our host I know, both economically and from a time perspective .

Amir has reviewed a lot of snake oil cables. Very few of the vendors cared enough to reply. Danny for some reason thinks a battle is in order. As I said above, he might be better off playing it cool.

A year ago he made a response video to audioholics where he's completely agreeing with Gene and that he measures everything and everything matters. He then goes on bragging about having so much orders he has a really hard time putting it all together. It all seems like an intro prior to a main course of "Audio Theory Review" and laughing out loud about someone listening to only a single one of his speakers which, without question disproves the validity of the listening test.

To me this is plain marketing psychology with no ethics or any sense of morally right conduct of business. There are of course better ways to express disagreement and defend your position.

He (Danny) has certainly not helped himself in this. The dealer I bought some Bel Canto gear from was a back garden cable maker . Again, total foo foo, but some of his clients lapped it up . Easy money and very sad to see .

It’s much harder to ignore someone if you care (secretly or not) what they have to say.

Of course. But I think it shows he does care. He can't be dismissive of Amir and at the same time take him seriously.

In marketing, there's such thing as a chemical so convenient that long time ago used to be a powerful surgical antiseptic, then advertised as a floor cleaner, then a mouth wash, dandruff treatment and, without further marketing as such, a prevention for Covid 19.

Cables are connected to stuff and by the same logic they must work no matter of application. Also they somehow always get things better, not worse... As if they are an ointment of sorts that can't do any harm.

If you inject the ends of his cable with bleach the sound is much cleaner. I do this to my computer power cord and it is a very effective anti-virus tool.

It's the snake oil. For time out of mind it has been a sovereign remedy.

This is Audio Science Review forum right? Don't making it personal, please.
You can disagree with my opinion, calling people have different opinion with "strange awkward and disjointed belief system" is no more than disgracing this place and make them join the anti ASR club.
As I saw on Head-Fi and SB█F and some other forums, they believe measurements matter but they are antagonistic about ASR, even boycott brands that might be sponsor of ASR, it could be avoid if we handle situlations more cautiously and professional.

I'm appreciate you and solderdude explain the why, now I agree we don't need better AC cables even they could have better measurement results under certain circumstances. Thank you.
