You don't hear similarities in that song with "Peg" or "Rikki don't lose that number"? I guess it's all subjective.

I listened to Aja today for the first time in probably 40 years due to that documentary and commented to my GF that they are essentially all the same song. I will never "get" why so many hold SD in such high esteem. I can see why some musicians would hold them in high esteem on a technical level, but the music itself? It's mediocre at best, with a few solid songs to their credit. Their best song for me is probably Reelin' in the Years.

Meh, relatively new term for what used to simply be called “adult contemporary”.

I hadn’t heard the phrase “yacht rock” until relatively recently. Nothing more than a BS term imho…

I searched Deezer streaming service for "Yacht Rock" and the albums shown seem like some old rock music being a "hook" for live cover bands' employment and the Deezer dedicated theme playlists read like nostalgic compilations.

I dig yacht rock. It suggests an image of people of a certain age who still have their health and their wealth.

I think it is a BS term to call 40 year old songs ‘contemporary’. This music is dated. Like from a time when sailboats were popular.

I've never heard of yacht rock. I don't believe there is any such thing as yacht rock. I don't expect to ever hear of it again after this thread.
I agree with Donald...

Someone is pushing the name: I heard a financial advisor using it on his radio show about 8 months ago. His side kick said "What are you talking about, I never heard of such a thing"?

TBH I've always called it soft rock, even when the music was new when I was a teen in the 70's.
