Got my Geselli J# gain volume issue

I got my Geselli J3 with Sparcos Lab chip in. I connected to my Denon 2560 CD via coaxial connection to bypass the dac in the Denon and then connected the RCA output from the dac to the Marantz 2250b via aux.
The problem is that when pressing any of the gain buttons the volume is so low from the Geselli dac that I have to turn the Marantz volume all the way up to hear anything. W/o the Geselli the Denon with the same cables work fine. Suggestions

The DAC in the CD player is probably already better than human hearing.* ;) They usually measure differently but most DACs don't have any audible defects.

to the Marantz 2250b via aux.
Since the AUX input on the Marantz is apparently working OK when you directly connect the CD player's analog output my guess is that the Geselli is defective. :(

It's unlikely that there's a problem with the CD player's digital output that would cause low volume. Digital either works or fails very badly. The cables won't lower the volume either.

* In your case you've got an obvious problems so there's no need to do this, but if you compare the sound of DACs make sure the listening tests are level-matched, blind, and the results are repeatable and statistically valid.
