Good RCA to Toslink converter?

Thanks! I ended up grabbing the PCM1804 board, Pro-Ject isn't known for making particularly good phono preamps, so I like the flexibility to grab a better phono preamp down the line. Really happy with it, currently using it with an USB adapter in a 3d printed case

Nice! Pic of your finished unit would be nice if you have time.
For sure! It came together really well, although I had to file away a tiny bit of case to get the toslink port to fit through (made a small mistake whilst measuring) but super happy with how it looks. No screws needed, the rear is a separate part (with power/RCA) that I pressure fitted into the rest of the case.

Nice and clean. I like that. I need to find out if there is a source in the states for this board. Very useful in my opinion. I’ve had one of those $14 ones crap out causing distortion.

Well, it is not cheap, but miniDSP has produced the ADept. This unit will convert line level RCA, analog XLR, and phono cartridge to digital and offers both TOSlink and SPDIF outputs to go to a DAC. I am using one to convert RF and LF outputs from a Denon x3800h to feed a miniDSP Flex 8 for my Linkwitz LX521.4 speakers for HT use.

Talking about miniDSP, I wasn't aware of their PocketADC before now...
Which might not be that surprising... going by this note, it seems to be a brand new product for them:
STOCK Update (16/01/2025): Products are now finalizing assembly with orders shipping around mid February 2025.
Looks like an interesting product at a sensible price.

I am utterly confused by the choices for "12V PSU" though - 'Not required' vs. '+10'. The specs say the power supply is included, the description says it's optional, so which is correct? If I can't figure this out, how is the average customer supposed to?

Someone screwed the pooch when they were making the product listing page. The plain intention is to have the option to pay $10 extra for a 12V PSU if you need one, or to save the $10 if you don't. The verbiage of the option and the way it works when you actually add it to your cart aren't reflecting that intention, however.

@wouter Nice job - can you share the files for that case :D

Yes, here you go! :)

I slightly improved the design to fix the small issues I had with mine (like having to file away a bit of plastic to make the TOSLINK port fit better) so this one should work better. I printed mine with zero tolerances on a Bambu X1C.
