Garth shared stories of his early work as an apprentice to great engineers who showed him the ropes. He talked about how these dudes could build a transmitter with their eyes closed, and make impossible repairs look like child’s play.
But even as brilliant as they were, and for all that advice he took back then (this was the ’70s), Garth knows for a fact that if he ever suggested to them that one day, he would be championing loudspeaker cables making a difference, they would have thought he was an idiot and had his head. Like the experience some of our wonderful internet forums offer….
The master liar strikes. CLASSIC case of any interview with these sorts of people:
1) Claim they were under the wings of the best people in the industry.
2) Praise their ability to no end to divert attention and possible skepticism and thoughts of bloated ego of himself, giving his masters all the credit.
3) Create the tale of how "self intuition and belief" triumphed when the day finally came to turn the tables and surpass his masters who all would think he is an idiot. (If any of this story is true, I believe this part, but not the way Garth thinks.. I believe him in the fact that he was thinking how to eventually be a part of scams like this, and his "masters" didn't see the monetary value of undertaking such a thing. Of course he never told them that was the hopeful intent, but possibly a litmus test to see if he can work his bullshit on them, which he failed most likely). Who knows though, this whole story could be a total fabrication.
4) Compare the masters who could do "impossible repairs" blindfolded to the people requesting scientific results on the internet today. (As if this is something bad.. this is possibly the greatest compliment someone from Audioquest could have ever given us, as opposed to themselves who are seemingly throwing blindfolds on all their customers essentially).
The only "child's play" in this whole ordeal as mentioned in the quote, is this attempt to come off as a rational person. It's so bad and evident that this guy is a con, children wouldn't persist to this degree. But with customers like there's... you know the rest...
