There are still DACs with measurable FR error that is probably audible, though.

It may not have been deleted but pending mod’s approval, yet email notifications are sent out with full content once the post is submitted. I’ve seen it happen before, once approved the post shows up in the discussion. That’s my theory anyway.

It was in the thread. As for why its not now not like I know. Either way, this post seems to be devolving quickly. Even the blind abx post was better than this....

Can we get more comments talking about testing methodology? Tbh I'm still learning there and would love to read more about what's good/bad methodology and why

A reviewer who claims to be able to hear miniscule differences in sound quality? Let's quantify that. @GoldenOne AKA @MiddleMan what level can you get up to on this?

Hey @GaryH, nice to see you ! I admire your persistence.

You know what ? I just took a few extra trials yesterday morning during breakfast :

By your own logic :

You are now forced to consider my own subjective judgments as very trustworthy.
Hey they've even got better in the course of a breakfast ! How neat.
See how flawed that logic is ?

Otherwise, where are your own results ? I'm waiting !

You see, you quickly run out of steam and become an uninteresting interlocutor when all you do on these fora is mindlessly parrot what you've read on reddit from Oratory1990 or seen in Sean Olive's powerpoint slides. At some point you'll have to actually walk the talk, be a brave boy, and form your own enlightened opinion of whatever you're referring to. This way you'd have realised that How To Listen absolutely does not test thresholds of audibility or small variations in dB until you reach quite high levels in the "attributes" tests or happen to land on a "band ID" trial that tests the two extreme bands. Identification of FR bands =/= audibility. Since it also doesn't give you any feedback on the differences in dB you've just been tested for in the "attributes" sections we can't really relate one's performance with it to the sort of measurements we see on ASR.

OK, I'll bite: what did @GoldenOne AKA @MiddleMan do to be hard banned from this forum?
You can bite all you want. We have a general policy of showing exiting members a modicum of respect, dignity and privacy, by not normally making general announcements of members who eventually get themselves banned. However, we had a break in last night ;) where a previously banned member created a shadow account to attempt to bypass his account ban. The result was this person was able to make a temporary post that was immediately noticed by Brad and removed by me.

The previous Member here being “Goldenone”. He got banned for repeated violations. It is not our policy to publicly announce nor debate Administrative actions. We are constantly criticized for being too slow or too lax when dealing with troublesome members. It is our policy to issue many warnings and abundant rope in each case long before we ultimately have to hit the Eject button. Which in this case we did.

Now you know all the details we intend to share, would you kindly stop bitting my hand Sir!

This may be more of a suggestion for @amirm, but I think it would would be better if banned members were identified as such in their posts (with title boxes) and in their profiles so that others don't reply to or @ them.

Giving GoldenOne the benefit of the doubt, he thought he was shadow banned because his postings were not identified as such. He may have confused by the various posts labeled "Deleted Member XXXXXXX" for previous members who have asked to have their accounts deleted and assumed that was typical of a ban at ASR.

Let me be clear -- I meant no disrespect or criticism to you or anyone else on the stellar team that makes ASR tick 24/7! My comment was made out of healthy curiosity. I say "healthy curiosity", because I was not after any juicy goss or details of what may have happened, but rather a confirmation that something did happen as here we have 5 page thread discussing that person -- someone who ostensibly appears articulate, calm and outspoken in his cool British accent -- without him in sight and able to explain his methods and generally defend his position.

I am similarly puzzled by the eloquent description of sound qualities of this vs that DAC by GoldenOne. However, I also do have it in my mind that he has popularised the issues around MQA. Yes, there were many in this forum and elsewhere who questioned MQA's benefits with scientific argument, but GoldenOne, via a combination of clever experimentation and eloquent easily accessible argument on a popular social platform easily consumable by masses of audio enthusiasts, arguably made MQA's questionable claims and their rebuttal a part of the pop culture. And for that, I think, he deserves my respect, too.

Now you know all the details we intend to share, would you kindly stop bitting my hand Sir!
It is not my intention to engage in biting the hand that feeds me! :D English is not my second but my third language...
