Getting tired of the D sound ?

I know words like "fluid, authority, more body etc." seem like typical snake oil salesmen vernacular, but how can I describe what im hearing otherwise. Especially if there are no established nomenclatures? And those "audiophile catchphrases" have established themselves in the community, because most people can link them to what they are hearing or feeling.
I think you should use whatever language works for you to describe differences in what you hear. I'm not so sure there are consistent correspondences between use of the words and what people hear and feel but it's possible. I suspect suggestion plays into it. Perhaps that's how the correspondences you mention are established.

In any case, I think you profit from investigating where the perceived differences come from.

I didn't just mean the $1000 on the table if you can show it's due to amp topology because that's so unlikely. I mean you'll profit from a better understanding of how sound quality and equipment performance relate.

I suspect there is more to it than the class type. Just like dac chips, all the stuff around it makes a bigger difference than the chip, assuming same generation.
I had one class d power amp, a PS Audio. Worked fine, great in summer, quiet. But sounded flat.
I also had a big musical fidelity power amp, one of the cr ones, and it also sounded flat, as well as hard.
Neither of them stayed a year.

I currently no longer use Class D amps, just chose to have A/AB, SS/tube amps to feel some pleasure on getting my cold hands on hot surfaces. :)
Just kidding of course, but this is -actually- a problem long time solved, indeed.
You forgot the class BS amp.

I got my Musical Fidelity A1 (2023) this week. My 3E Audio A7 ,with Burson V7Vs, goes as a backup on my PC. I will never use it for music again. The A1 is just better. I dont even have to go into detail. It just is. In every and any way possible. Class D cant even be considered "for music pleasure" in comparison. Class D is not even an option anymore. Who knows, maybe I send the Bursons and my A7 back, since I have a couple days left to return them. I dont need that anymore. I got something MUCH better.

That is insanity. You've purchased an ancient technology heat generator, that can (on a warm day) exceed the maximum safe touch temperature and needs 25cm clear above it for cooling. It can only do 25W per channel, but costs the same as high end purify class D models that can exceed that power by a factor of 10, yet adds noise and distortion at least 100x less.

My ears are enough for the obvious difference.
If that is true, you should trust them - and use only your ears, not your eyes.

let me enjoy something better!

No-one is trying to tell you you can't enjoy something other than class D. What we are taking objection to are you un-evidenced claims of "betterness" or even "difference", against all the scientific odds.

Audiophile: ‘I don’t believe in measurements, I trust my ears.’
Doctor: ‘Cool… I’ll just treat your blood pressure by vibes too.'

Class D measures clean, runs cool, and sounds great…
It’s basically the cardiologist of amps —
low distortion, high efficiency, and no drama.

Getting tired of class D sound threads? - yes

Getting tired of people hitting the return key when reaching the end of the line? - yes

When people get "tired" of things, it is often because they miss the thrill of the new, and they want to recapture that feeling. They are after the thrill, not the sound.

New almost always sounds better, particularly when we believe it will sound better.

BTW, I can make my class D amp sound like what many say class AB amps sound like. You know what lets me do that? My particular room, and knowing how to manipulate it.

Thread seems to have suffered from a misguided title and suffered accordingly. Closed.
