Greetings,

Due to wifey restraints, I am forced to listen to my music with headphones. I am considering the purchase of the relatively new DAC/AMP combo called the Luxsin X9. I am also considering the WiiM Ultra as my streamer.

Pardon this noobish question, but what's the best way to connect the two units utilizing the WiiM Ultra only as a streamer?

Thank you

The WiiM has a headphone output so you may not need anything else. Otherwise, any of the matching/compatible outputs & inputs should give you the same digital data. An optical connection minimizes the chances of a ground loop which can cause analog noise but that's not a common problem.

If you don't have headphones yet it might be best to go to a store to check the sound and the comfort since you might be wearing them a lot. ;)

Thank you.

I already have headphones; 2 pair in fact; the Audeze LCD-X and the Sennheiser HD 6XX.

My main concern was which connection offers the best sonic results.

Optical, coax, or USB?

As long as there is no interference, they should all be the same. Bits are bits and bandwidth limitations tend not to implicate anything audible in playback, i.e. high res.

I'd choose Optical for its electrical isolation.

If there's one way in which an audible difference between USB, Coax, and Optical may emerge, it's in Optical preventing electrical interference noise.

I won't make my final decision for approximately 5 to 6 weeks from now.
