Genelec speaker stands

Hey,

I recently switched from my old simple passive speakers to new Genelec 8340 studio monitors. I placed them on the stands I made for my old ones, but I would like to get new, more fitting, stands for the Genelecs.

My old stands are pretty light and out of wood, they are 70 cm high and the top plate is 20 cm wide and 30 cm deep, which is quite a bit too large for the Genelecs.

I would like to have the new stand about the same height, but out of metal and Ideally without a rectangular top plate. The problem is that the stands for Genelec from K&M are all quite a bit higher (26785 and 26740). I like the K&M 26720 pretty much, but I don't think I can mount the 8040-408 Stand plate to it. So if any of you here know a stand that fit's my needs, please tell me.

On another note: I would like to purchase a microphone stand for the GLM microphone too. Last time I just stuck the mic on a cardboard box on my armchair, so I would like to get a stand that can sit on my armchair or lean above it, but with the normal mic stand/arm I guess I need some sort of thing, so that the mic can still point upwards.

Sorry, I don't really know anything about all this professional equipment and I hope you can help me, and that I learn more about it in the process.

I’ve chosen the K&M 26791 monitor stands, minimum height 64 cm (64-104 cm). You can use the fitting Genelec top plates with it, for the 8350 that would be the Genelec 8051-408 or Z8050-408, but you have to look up the right number for your 8340’s yourself. Very sturdy stands, with a very large foot plate, a little bit smaller would have been nicer in my view.

Thanks for sharing. Generally I like the stand, but it doesn't look to me like there is a fitting plate for the 8x4x Genelecs. I can only find the 8040-408 and that only has the 3/8" thread but not the two others which are needed. I think. It would probably look pretty massive with the 8340 on top, but I would go with it if it works. Of course, I also dream of sometime upgrading to 8351 or something, but that's for many years to come.

Hmm, I looked a bit more into the K&M 26785 (or 8000-400 Genelec Design stand, which is the same I think) and noticed that the acoustic axis of my speakers would "only" be ~12 cm higher, which should probably be fine, since there are maybe even a bit too low currently, and I could angle them slightly down if needed.

The other thing I thought about, would be just getting a much wider TV low board which has the right height, or a slightly lower one and then desk stands. I plan to move houses next year, so that would be something for then.

Two motorway crash barrier support posts work well with a clean up and in this case a handmade wooden top plate.

The 26785 seems a little more stable (in theory) than the stand-plate setup. (I've had no problems with stand plates). Also you can run the cables through the tube easily.

Thanks. I don't have any problems with that either, I just don't like the look of the IsoPod on a rectangle.

I think I will go with the 26785. But I'll at least wait until January or February since they are a bit expensive and I want to get a microphone stand with them (I guess 252 with 19695) and I probably need a few longer cables too if I want to put them through the stand.

Ok, I was in the city a few days ago, and then I fought, that if I'm already where, why shouldn't I just get the speaker stands that I wanted. Makes sense, I know.

It's quite a bit higher, like expected, but I angled the speakers the slightest bit down, and it sounds exactly the same to me. They look way better than my self-made old ones, and it looks like I have way more space in my room now, which is nice.

As you can see, one cable doesn't go through the stand. That's my coaxial to XLR AES/EBU cable. I haven't decided yet if I just get a longer one or go with the more correct solution using an impedance converter from 75 Ohm to 110 Ohm.

Here is a pic

And how it was before (with the PS5 I got rid of recently)

Hi
We make custom stands for Genelec. I am the creator of this project. In my audio system, I have the 8361 model. I couldn't find stands that would meet my requirements, so I made them myself. Then, a few other people liked the idea and that's how it came about :)

I know this is not everybody's cup of tea, but I like it. It's leftovers from this. The cable mess I just for show lol.

I plan to order stands from here in maple. I'm into wood as you can tell.

Can you make them for sale?

I apologize for my absence. I had a long holiday weekend. Yes, that's correct. The tripods are officially on sale. Unfortunately, we do not have any stock and we are producing everything on a per-order basis. There is an order form on our website where you can choose the model, color, thread size, etc. You can also describe any additional specifications you may have, such as a different color or special height. After you submit the form to us, we will send you a final offer with the production timeline and the transportation cost for your approval. Due to the global situation, we have to negotiate with each carrier for every shipment and find the best option to keep the transportation cost as low as possible for our customers.

Not sure if this will help you, but thought it would be worth mentioning.

If you have access to a 3d printer it would be possible to print a base plate which could then be adapted to some type of DIY stand. If you sanded and painted them the end result could look very nice!

Probably really only an option worth considering if budget is any concern, but I don't think you would be missing out on much while at the same time have the abiltity to make stand that are the perfect height.

Where can I buy them and how tall are they?
