Genelec setups in living rooms [how to]

This is my current setup in the living room: Genelec 8341s with a Bluesound Node X. I’m considering upgrading to 8361s in near future.

Have you considered adding a sub? I think your money would be better spent here.

I’ve thought about it, and in terms of both audio and cost, a subwoofer would probably make the most sense. But aesthetically, I don’t have a good spot for one in my current living room, and it would take up some floor space as well.

My thinking is that the 8361A’s will still extend the low frequencies quite a bit, and when I eventually move to a larger home—hopefully with a dedicated listening room—I can upgrade the setup with either a 7380A sub or a W371 woofer system. Does that make sense in your opinion?

The genelec subwoofers are unfortunately huge and ugly.

8361a has enough bass for moderate volume on bass heavy tracks. The quality of the bass is amazing.

Their subs are indeed pretty industrial-looking, so I couldn’t really find a way to make them fit in my current living room.

When visiting an audio shop today to buy some cables, I had a temporary lapse of sanity and ordered the 8361s.

From your description, I’m pretty sure they’ll have enough bass for my needs. Now the only question is: how on earth am I going to manage to screw them onto my speaker stands :)

If you can't get a genelec SAM subwoofer in your space, the 8361a is perfect. Much cheaper than a new house for the 7380a.

They have a ton of bass
I ausinoned them in an open space in a store and still was blown away but the bass output

Tempted to give my setup spruce up

W371 up front, and move the 7370 to the back

Route the bass from the center to the L&R and us the 7370 for bass management for the surrounds n atmos

I’ve upgraded my 8341As to 8361As. Big difference in bass, and more than enough for my apartment. Funny how at first they looked ridiculously big, but now they’ve shrunk to a moderate size in my mind

They make the TV look small! Are those custom stands?

Indeed, though the photograph makes the TV look somewhat smaller than it is in reality. I’ll probably need to upgrade to a bigger one in the future to match the audio. It’s an endless cycle :)

The stands are from a Swedish company called Solid Tech. I had trouble finding good-looking ones that fit the Ones series, but I think these are pretty neat.

How'd you find them from say mid upwards?
Compared to my previous speakers, the 8341As, I can’t say I notice any difference, which is most likely intended by Genelec :)

After GLM calibration, they sounded a bit bright in my room, so I added a –2 dB shelf filter to the mid and high frequencies, which worked well in my case.

To me, they sound very detailed, though I have to say I don’t have a huge amount of experience, as I’ve only listened to a handful of different speakers.

I agree great stands, but whilst I wall mount and won't likely change that, I'd love to know how to find them. Google was not my friend...

Those stands are perfect for 8361, best ive seen for them
Thanks! For me, their appeal is that, although they are visually quite light (though being sturdy and weighing over 20 kilograms), they visually balance the massive speakers well.
Ouch these prices!
The price made me wince for sure. Luckily I got a nice discount from a local reseller.

As we are currently thinking about an update of our living room, I searched for inspiration to integrate the Genelec as nice as possible! Due to the shape it seems to be not so easy to integrate, however hopefully this thread will help.
Each to their own I guess.
Genelec's look fine in a studio, I find them ugly as hell in a home setting.
YMMV
