Genelec Owners Lounge and Discussion

@Behrelec 37
We have serious communication problems and you still haven't understood the beauty of this forum (its owner "amirm", the prepared and competent people, the engineers, the technicians, the producers, etc...) whose name integrates the word SCIENCE, so I move on.

Have fun :)

Keeping packaging does not mean being a compulsive hoarder, but being farsighted. :)
You are right, and it was not my intention to imply that. ;)
Enjoy your lunch.
Hope you did, for me it's 20:4 diet until my "width" is reduced to an acceptable level ... ^^

Perfection does not exist on earth, otherwise it would be utopia. All material in the world always wears out and eventually rots. But fortunately there are alternatives to switch to smarter sound solutions at a reasonable price. And that is DSP loudspeakers. That is the core of high tech science. for people who want the most direct path to the highest sound experience. Unfortunately, passive systems are only the most limited solutions in the hifi sense. This is just a matter of saying it with cold logic like this.Of course, everyone has the power to choose their own money-spending relationship hifi hobby items, but for many hifi enthusiasts, their own knowledge is still in their infancy as to what DSP room repair at its finest can achieve in sound reproduction. For the consumer, this is not rocket science. It is only for audio engineers who solve difficult bends and puzzles.

Have fun :)

OT: I would like to be in Monaco on Saturday but tickets were impossible to find. :(

I wish Genelec made something like the Adam D3V
Just hook up a phone to them with a USB cable and be done

I've been using this pair of 1029A for a couple of decades. I'm so used to the sound of them I might have a hard time if I needed to replace them.

I have them thanks to Keith Fullerton Whitman. He still lived and worked around here back when I was getting into a bit of production of my own music. Not knowing what to buy he assured me that if I can afford them get Genelec, don't mess around. Guitar Center had this floor model set for a good discount. KFW also told me to use stands to lift them off the desk surface. I got mic stands, which screw right into the bottom of them. Neat!

Power switch, indicator and volume control on the front panel! How many of you can brag that?

This is a little annoying- running GLM 5.2 my adapter says 'update' on a greyed out button and the speakers say 'up to date' over a button that says 'firmware' which isn't greyed out. Not very consistent, Genelec.

I hope 5.2.1 fixes this.

Anyone know what would be a good way to tilt up a Genelec speaker lying on its side on a table? Specifically a heavy one like 8351B sitting as a C channel under TV. Needs to tilt up a bit more than the isopod allows and not slip or topple over. At the moment I am thinking of wedging it up using a squat wedge like https://a.co/d/6TWqcix. Alternative would be get something similar in wood and drill a hole and attach the isopod metal base.

Thanks, I also came across those on Amazon but wasn't sure how well a foam base would work with the isopod feet since they might dig into the foam and sink in. Had they been a flatter uniform base things would have been easier. But I guess it's worth a try since these are cheap.
Yeah they were cheap enough to convince me. So far it's been four months with no discernable collapse or compression. The amp weighs about 19 lbs.

The 8351s weigh 19 kilos.
I use wedge doorstops under my Adams, but you have to consider how much you have to tilt.
