Is anyone considering upgrading from 8361 to 8380?

They still haven't listed what stand they are using for 8380. I wonder if it can be lowered or slightly tilted forward.

The thing I don't like about both setups is that if you are in a smaller room, the listening position might need to be increased in height if you really want that on axis.

83x1 can be tilted a bit down I guess but still that w371 raises it quite high

yeah that's my main reason, my MLP is too nearfield and I don't go full range anyway. I barely make use of the 8361a's. I prefer something a little smaller and what I need is more subbass. I keep hoping a 7380a falls out of the sky. You know it would survive it too.

Second visit to the Genelec Tokyo center, where I was able to spend a long time listening to their new rooms and new setup compared to my previous visit, when I had listened to the W371 with the 8351.

The 8380s are excellent ! very well controlled low end. The 8381s (in the second room), the big flagship, become really interesting if you have enough listening distance; otherwise, at around 3 meters, the 8341 + subwoofer setup delivered a better stereo image in a room of that size.

The Atmos setup was very good ! I was able to play an atmos mix I had done in Paris for comparison.

Thank you for welcoming me, and especially for letting me run all my tests.

What were the subs in there pairing with atmos setup? Like the 2 in front or were there more

Edit: zoomed into the GLM screen, looks like just 2 subs, 7370s?

The link is dead but I realized I have the 5.2.2 executable still, so I made it available here for a little while. I'll take it down in a week.

Have a noob setup question. I have a MiniDSP SHD feeding 2 8361As and a 7360. The MiniDSP has 4 outputs, and it appears that I have two setup options:

(1) wire all speakers to different outputs from the MiniDSP, or

(2) wire the sub using two outputs from the MiniDSP, then wire the 8361As using two pass-through outputs from the 7360.

Is there an actual difference between these two options?

I think they assume their rectangular monitors will be baffle mounted which removes some of the need for the cardioid.

In case anyone was curious, I emailed Genelec support and they recommended the second option here.

GLM is so genius, I'm surprised that other companies didn't copy it until now(and made it as easy to use as GLM)

I've been wondering
Why doesn't Genelec add woofers on the sides or on the back like D&D or Buchardt?
Are you suggesting that designing a speaker as such will always produce and overall superior outcome and Genelec needs to change? :)
To answer this, there are pros and cons.
I think they assume their rectangular monitors will be baffle mounted which removes some of the need for the cardioid.
The rear woofer(s) on Dutch & Dutch speakers do not contribute to them being cardioid.
