Genelec Owners Lounge and Discussion

Having recently changed my left and right fronts from the 8030c speakers to 8341 beauts, I must say that I am very happy indeed. They join two 8010 surround speakers and a Kef sub to complete a 4.1 system, all connected up to a MiniDSP HTx.

I have spent hours and hours tweaking - far too many hours, and no doubt I shall spend many, many more hours tweaking things further.

But, I am currently settled on GLM being switched OFF, and Dirac handling only the bass region up to 150hz (crossed at 80hz for all speakers). They sound absolutely fabulous.

I have been playing around with the PEQ tab and creating different profiles - adding warmth, pulling back certain areas etc. One slot is reserved for full range Dirac so I can switch back and forth. Very very happy indeed.

Its worth noting that GLM didn't make any changes above 149hz.

That makes sense with non-Genelec subs. I certainly prefer the ability to set a curve in dirac.

Genelec says to get the 8341a flat with glm then apply dirac but obviously this will vary by room and theoretically shouldn't matter.

They did indeed suggest just that. Which was the method I followed, initially.

Anyone use the 9320a controller in a home scenario? Seems like a lot of wires to come out of the volume control by my chair but I like the features.

Hello Mort,

I'm using the 9320a in my home setup. I have my MacStudio connected via usb and my Wiim Ultra on the digital input via a coax to aes3 110Ohm cable from 1,5 meter (without an coax to aes3 110 ohm converter).
I have an extra power supply connected (5volt/3watt) so i can use the controller without powering up the MacStudio and because i'm making use of the headphone amp for the 8550a.
It's working great but in this case you have some extra cabeling. Sometimes i use my old macbook for screenmirroring with the MacStudio so i can control the 9320a via GLM this way (works great).

Good prices on US reverb for used.

I reported those, I don't believe they're real. All stock photos, price too good to be true, duplicate listings = symptom of poor automation
Fair enough! 8361a appear to have sold.

Both have reappeared at higher prices. Looks like they had accidentally listed the price for one, not a pair as indicated. Price doubled.

I've been tracking Genelec prices for a few years now.
Even with tarriffs these are steep increases.
They must feel confident in their growth and market positioning.

I wan't to share my latest upgrades while I/we wait for the Tide16 which is responsible for this madness, before the announcement of the Tide16 I was a happy camper with the miniDSP SHD running 2.2ch, 2 8351B and 2 12" Sigberg Inkognito one on the front wall between the 8351B and the other on the backwall in my false wall which is total depth of 24cm.

What has changed since the announcement because I really wan't to try how Dirac ART sounds in my living room, adding 2 8320A to my ceiling clouds I made the same time as the backwall 2 years ago and 2 8330A inside the back wall as surrounds.

My big question is should I wall mount my other Inkognito subwoofer at the top left corner or will it be to much? Placing it on floor can't do because I have my network gear in there.

And then make use of 1 or 2 spare M&K 12" I have not sold yet on front wall, so what would you guys do 2, 3 or 4 subwoofers for use with Dirac ART since I already own them is the question. I can't make any measurements other than GLM until I get the Tide16, so haven't seen how the M&K works in this spot, the image below is only to see how it looks.
Thanks for any suggestions.
