Dear Valued GLM User,
We want to inform you that we have identified an issue affecting GLM software version 5.2.
Issue:
After the initial GLM AutoCal calibration has been completed, when you want to re-run the GLM AutoCal calibration for a Group, the GLM fails to manage the 'Level Compensation' and 'Time of Flight Delay' settings correctly during the re-calibration. This leads to erroneous values of these settings after re-calibration. When your system requires these settings to be correctly calibrated, the issue results in a wrong system calibration where the imaging is not accurate. This issue exists only in the latest GLM version 5.2.
Workaround:
The issue can be circumvented with the following process. When you want to recalibrate the existing Group, take these steps:
· Duplicate the GLM Group definition
· Manually edit the 'Level Compensation' and 'Time of Flight Delay' settings and set these to zero values. This must be done for all loudspeaker and subwoofer devices in the Group.
· Run the GLM AutoCal
Second method that can be used is as follows
· Issue a File > New command; this creates an entirely new Group definition
· Configure this new Group in the same way as your existing group
· Run AutoCal
· After confirming coffect configuration and calibration, carefully rename the old Group as 'not in use' and rename the new Group with the name of the original Group
What is going to happen next
Our team is actively working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible to restore full functionality.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience during this time.

The cables from the amplifiers to the 8381s are present. But if it is a working system they did a nice job hiding the cables and source(s).
I saw that too but I think it still counts as a nice job hiding them. That hose, and the one on the other side, must also supply power to the electronics. The cables from the amplifiers to the 8381s are present.
Actually, the sources and preamps are not visible (probably they didn't want to advertise products from other brands).

Oh, thank you for sharing! I also went there in April this year, but the work on the main Atmos room hadn’t started yet, so I listened to the old version without the 8381s! But I’m going back in April 2026 because I’m such a fan of Genelec Tokyo.I had the opportunity of visiting a Genelec center in Tokyo in July for the Genelec Experience. Absolutely fantastic, and likely an optimal setting to listen to the 8361a’s + w371a.
As a bonus I got to listen to the 8381s and Ones arranged in multichannel Atmos.
I found the 8361a’s there to sound quite a bit more clear/detailed than my own, likely due to extensive room treatment. Bass was a bit lower than I had preferred even after I asked them to be adjusted to +3db at 100hz on the sound profiler in GLM. I guess I could asked them to set a HP and lower the rest of the frequency range, but I didn’t want to overstay my welcome… Also, I think most of the people who do the tour are in sound production, so I think Genelec are shooting more for accuracy here.
Not sure I found the w371a to make a huge difference in that room.
I probably couldn’t tell the 8381a from the 8361a in blind test, but maybe I could if bass were increased a few db.
They gave me a free tote bag, some stickers and a pen!
Name rings a bell, I think that was him!Oh, thank you for sharing! I also went there in April this year, but the work on the main Atmos room hadn’t started yet, so I listened to the old version without the 8381s! But I’m going back in April 2026 because I’m such a fan of Genelec Tokyo.
Were you hosted by Yosuke Asada? I didn’t understand your sentence, 'Not sure I found the w371a to make a huge difference in that room.' Are you talking about the room where the W371As are? And regarding the 8381A versus 8361A, were the 8361As with the two subs?
The 8381 didn't sound "bigger"?I had the opportunity of visiting a Genelec center in Tokyo in July for the Genelec Experience. Absolutely fantastic, and likely an optimal setting to listen to the 8361a’s + w371a.

Not to my untrained ears. I swear I thought I was listening to a pair of the white 8341s (or are they 51s?) in front of me. I remember I even had to confirm with my guide that the sound was coming from the 81s.The 8381 didn't sound "bigger"?
Thanks, it seems that we didn't hear exactly the same ones too in the W371 room! you heard with big 8361, and from my photos, I think I listened to the 8351 with the W371 and there was a big difference with and without W371Name rings a bell, I think that was him!
In terms of the w371a, what I meant was that because the room is extremely well treated, and consequently SBIR minimized, whatever effect the w371a cardioid-like aspect (constant directivity mode) had seemed to be minimal. I could barely tell any difference with it on versus with it off. I’m sure it would make a huge difference in my own room though, which is full of peaks and nulls. Also, because the content was music, I couldn’t really tell if the bass extended any deeper with them on.
The 8361a were not connected to subwoofers. I’m not sure if SPL in the sub-bass region would have been increased though as it seems they prefer to tune for flat FR. For this reason it was a bit jarring to hear the 8381as: they are huge so I expected a ton of bass, but what i heard was a flat FR, similar to what my 8361a produce in the default GLM configuration. It’s definitely not how I’d use them if I could afford them (I would probably add at least a +6db low shelf @ 100hz). I really should have asked for a more pronounced bass shelf…
There are several Atmos-mixes of Andrea Bocelli on apple music which I really enjoy although I typically prefer other musical styles. Surround music ensures that I regularly expand my musical taste. This great song plays beautifully through my Genelec speakers at home. Too bad it's not on Blu-ray, but let's move forward with that feeling. Check out the background music in the video. There's some great, super, super good stuff there.

I didn’t know they had the 8381s until I walked into that room. This was time I ever seen them in person, they looked huge so I expected them to sound “big.” Cranked em up quite a bit too but obviously nowhere near its limits.
