If you connect the following monitors to mains power only (no signal cables connected):
  • Genelec G One
  • Genelec G Two
  • Genelec G Three
which of them has the lowest self-noise, and which one is the noisiest?
How noticeable is the noise in practice? For example, at night in a typical apartment, would the hiss be audible from about 20 cm away from the speaker?
Will the 8010, 8020, and 8030 models have a similar level of self-noise?

They're all identical in that sense and all so quiet you wouldn't notice.

I sleep about 40 cm away from the monitor. If I don’t put it into standby mode, will it be completely inaudible at night?
In that case, which of these models are generally considered noisier, and which are quieter?

8010 was too noisy for me from 60cm distance in normal computer usage.

I was between the Genelec and Neumann, I ended up with the Neumann because after reading here, it has less self generated noise. And the Neumann was a tad more affordable with room correction.

According to Genelec's spec, G One, Two, Three all have the same self noise spec of ≤ 5 dBSPL, A-weighted, 1 m free field. When corrected for distance at 20 cm, the noise level increases to 5 + 6 × log2(100/20) = 19 dBSPL.

I’ve seen that, but only the Genelec G Three monitor has the specification:

Signal to Noise ratio, referred to full output:
Bass ≥ 100 dB
Treble ≥ 100 dB

The lower models don’t have this listed. On the other hand, the G Three also plays louder.

If we compare the first and second models, the amplifier in the first is 25+25 W, while in the second it’s 50+50 W.

So I’m wondering — what’s the actual difference in self-noise between them?
