Hi,

I hope you can help and this is the correct place to post.

Posting on behalf of my son who has a pair of Genelec 8240A monitors, and has downloaded GLM 5.2.0 and now he cannot get any playback.

He operates Windows 11. Use a YellowTec PUC2 light USB interface and AES digital out to Digital In AES/EUB on the first monitor. Then from monitor 1 he uses AES/UB digital through to monitor 2 AES/EBU digital in. He then has the GLM unit connected to his PC and RJ45 out to Control in on monitor 1 and then RJ45 from Network Through from Monitor 1 to Network Through on Monitor 2. Is this correct?

Also for playback he uses Tidal and this is defaulted to the PUC2.

Issue - both monitors have a solid amber light and no playback via Tidal. On GLM 5.2.0 both monitors show as online when on the Define SAM System Layout screen.

He did have playback prior to upgrading GLM, but in haste to relocate his monitors he unplugged everything.

To be honest I don't have a clue on how to help him sort this, so any advice would be great.

I have no experience with Genelec SAM or with GLM so I don't know. But in your son's shoes I'd look in the manual for the closest thing to a Factory Reset feature and take it from there. And/or contact Genelec for help. And/or wait for someone here who knows something to reply.

Try this.
Under Group Preset, click Edit.

Make sure the group is On, correct input selected, etc. Clicking on an element within the group allows you to see additional info:

My guess is the group got messed up with the new software, but just a guess.

Good luck.

Start from scratch in GLM, create a new group with both monitors and choose digital input.

Okay seem to be making some progress. All GREEN lights on the monitors and flashing ORANGE light on the GLM. He's managed to calibrate the monitors, but no sound via Tidal.

Tidal output is set for the PUC2 and Use Exclusive Mode is set, but he's saying there is still no music playback.

He's asking should the the Group when he hovers the curser of the Group icon should it say signal analog?

Thanks :-)

Update - NOW SORTED. It was the group needed to be digital and NOT analog.

Why do some monitors, for example the 8340, have an output power that is 2 times less than the total amplifier power of 180W versus 150+150?
