The Genelec demo room in London is pretty poor acoustically I recall. Like freestanding plasterboards lol
Yes not great, it was interesting to see the various W371A options , they improved but obviously couldn’t cure an imperfect room.

Yes sure, nothing have actually changed in terms of acoustic and electronic performances, among the very best available today.

But this super speaker and its dedicated electronics look nicer this way.

For wealthy audiophiles listening in a large space and looking for neutral/accurate rendition (that's what real serious wealthy audiophiles should be).

It is interesting that here we mainly used 8341, yet the room does not seem small and neither does the distance from the listening point.

They will be at the Munich show very soon, whether only on display or also for listening? ; I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if the price was in the 100K range for this civilized version .

I think smaller monitors make more sense when there are a dozen of them compared to a two-channel stereo setup. Lower SPL per speaker is required.

I thought about it too and in fact it would be interesting to understand which ones to use for an Atmos system.

You can now get a pair of 8381A's for £60k (GBP). Not cheap, but a lot cheaper than at release?

The new special domestic finish will certainly sell for a higher price than the usual pro finish. That's quite a lot of money.
You've had better written : "less exensive" instead of " a lot cheaper", this last adjective is clearly unadequate for such price tags, even discounted since the initial release.

Of course, compared to many silly overpriced bull.... supposed "Highend speakers", this 8381A is way much better and relatively less expensive.
If i were a very wealthy audiophile with a very big room to fill, I would buy this big Genelec.

60000 Pound Sterling equals 79967.48 Dollars equals 70610.49 Euros. Expect a 15/20k increase for the civilized version.

I can say that I have listened to the 1235a speakers of the master series with an enthusiast, and he even had the biggest subwoofer 7382a with and without it. And that if any combination raised a smile very, very high with almost all music. Live sound was huh huh what a pleasure. But yes, these new 8381a speakers also sounded convincingly great. In both models, the old and the new have slightly different characteristics, and there are also many similarities. In my opinion, the live sound experience, or now electronic live music, is not the 8381a's strengths but more the advantages of the old master series. In the end, it is mostly a matter of taste and space-optimized spatial solutions which model would you prefer. Or what kind of music do you listen to mainly with hi-fi in mind.

What did you think of the 7382A subwoofer?

The Genelec 7382a subwoofer is very good/optimal for the 1238a and higher master series speakers. For smaller series it is too powerful unless used in multichannel operation instead of stereo.I have not yet gotten to know the subwoofer in depth enough, which is a rather rare treat in listening to music and movies. In short, I would say that it works and has very high-quality low-frequency bass. I would like to buy it for myself, but since I moved to a new apartment a while ago, it is now on hiatus in terms of purchasing desires.
