Genelec 8330A Review (Studio Monitor)

9310B Wired Volume Controller is correct. It plugs into the GLM box. GLM box is connected via USB to computer (only required for calibration etc) and via ethernet cables (included) to the speakers.

The 8000-323 looks like a good option. Genelec accessories are expensive in the US (less so in elsewhere?) but solid.

The 8000-323 is very good, I have not regretted a second since I got this for my PC calibrated 8030Cs, the desktop dip switch works fine but isolating the speaker fomr ths stand and raise it to ear level is just great. and when you count you can use it for 10+ years without desire to upgrade it worth even more

I thought they had dip switches but I’m not seeing them?
8330 and 7350 doesn't have the dip switches, even the Stored switch, which might cause a bit of confusion when storing the setting to speakers. Stored switch just shows "N/A" but the settings will be saved.

Something definitely looks off, here. The specification for these monitors is ±1.5 dB from 58Hz to 20KHz and Genelec rarely fails to meet their specification. I wonder if this may have been a defective unit or if a previous calibration may still have been loaded.

My desktop system is currently 8330 with 7350 (absolutely love it) but sometimes I play it on the limit of 7350 (big room). Is there anybody with dual 7350? It should give me enough headroom and also sub in stereo but would love to hear from someone with experience.
Thanks!

Not dual subs experience but maybe some food for thought.
I used to have 8330+7350, upgraded to 8340 and later the sub to 7360. Been thinking that I should've upgraded to dual 7350 instead for stereo bass. It comes down to what kind of music/movies/games and how loud you are listening, how optimally you can place your sub(s) and listening position etc.

There are a few slightly counterintuitive methods to get more bass out of these smaller Genelec systems just by fiddling with the GLM and calibration levels.

Hi all! My first post here.

I'm currently using 2 x 8331 with dual 7350 sub and I guess it's perfectly balanced system regarding headroom (crossed at 100Hz). I think 8331/8330 used in stereo should have two 7350's or one 7360 minimum. Dual 7350 system is better regarding the bass localization and cost is about the same as system with one 7360.
The downside to dual sub system is that GLM has not yet capabilities to properly automatically calibrate dual sub and after automatic calibration you have to correct some settings in GLM manually. If you want to upgrade 833x to 834x/835x in future, I would take one 7360 (and cross it at 85 Hz).

I was surprised to see the clipping light (amber and red) come on during the bass region of 96 dBSPL sweeps.
Can You remember at what Volume setting on Genelecs ( @ ~ - 10dB? ... ~-20dB ?) You measured 96dB?

Try lower cut-off frequency (not 85Hz, but 70Hz - less work for sub, ... but more for satellites). On the other hand, Genelec 8330A+Genelec 7350A is not for "far field" listening in big room. For this purpose You have Genelec 8350A+Genelec 7370A.

OK, in Genelec 8330A operating manual is NOTHING about SPL vs attenuation setting on digital input :facepalm:, but in Genelec 8340A, 8350A, 8331A, 8351B manuals, there is info:
Digital input sensitivity (100 dB SPL at 1m) = -30dBFS
So probably on Genelec 8330 will be the same.

Another question: if I set sub cut-off at 65Hz, Genelec 8330A will have this kind of cut-off? (-6 dB @ cutoff frequency, and -24dB at cutoff frequency/2?):

Nice room. The little genelec blends in quite well with the space.

Much joy and pleasure to the owner of this room.

but you sure it's a good idea to put your bird cage on top of a sub?
Ha ha, yes that would be an unhappy bird. It's an empty birdcage fortunately. :)

Thanks @mkt for previous advices regarding the connection from my mac to Genelec speakers, it worked perfect, the chain is in the next way:

Mac -> USB -> SMSL PO100 PRO -> coax cable -> AES -> 8330 -> 2nd 8330
Also GLM is connected to the 1st speaker and to the mac too, providing auto calibration + volume change via the knob, everything is working as should, but recently I have decided to move the speakers to my living room, where there are LG OLED C1 TV and PS5 and I have got a new question/problem

How to make that audio from PS5 that connects to the TV would go to the Genelec 8330a speakers, instead of built-in TV speakers? I bough an optical to optical cable, though some cheap one for 3.5$ and made the chain in next way:
TV -> Optical -> SMSL PO100 PRO -> coax cable -> AES -> 8330 -> 2nd 8330

When in LG TV settings I choose to produce audio via optical channel, it's goes silent, when returning to TV speakers I again hear the sound from PS5, the chain before optical completely worked with my mac, but doesn't want with my TV, where the issue can be located? Is the problem in optical cable? in the SMSL PO100 PRO? Also can I use GLM volume control knob to regulate volume going through the digital path?

To sum up I have 2 issues:
1) Don't get any sound from Genelec speakers currently
2) Not sure how to control the volume using digital inputs into Genelecs, without GLM and it's knob, cause I feel while they work on mac with installed GLM software, on TV it would not be an option, so would need an alternative variant to volume control
