Genelec 8010A Powered Studio Monitor Review

Did somebody compare 8010 and G1? Technically, they are the same except for the input, but the F One sub (40W) is not enough for 8010, even on -10dB via switch.
Genelec 7040APM sub is 50W. Has anybody comments about the volume of this speakers?

after around 4 weeks now living with the G Ones and the F One as my 2.1 PC speakers. they are good.

one quirk bothers me a bit: while the G Ones' auto turn off (when where is no signal) works as expected, the F One sub's auto turn off does NOT work as expected at all! Genelec claims that it is due to me connecting my PC to the F One via optical cable, and thus, the PC might be sending clocking speeds through the cable and so the F One NEVER turns off as long as the PC is on!

i turn my PC on every morning and use it off and on throughout the day until bedtime, so that translates to the F One being always "on" for around 17 hours a day! that's unfortunate. if they can get the G Ones to work properly (the auto turn off feature), why can't they get the F One to work as well?

the only workaround is for me to use the remote control from the F One each and every time i walk away from my PC and turn the F One off, and then turn it back on when i return to use the PC again later.

for the overpriced F One, they really ought to fix this annoying issue.

I have an analog connection for F One; auto turn-off works well.
@MaxA thanks for your comment.

i tried it with analog initially, then tried it with optical cabling with an intermediary "SMSL PO100 2024" device.

i much prefer it with the SMSL and optical cable. i have far fewer noise artifacts of various types. ymmv.

I’m not sure that the F One or F Two have an analog to digital converter.

All outputs are analog, and dip switches look analog also, or maybe not.

I cannot find any mention to an internal DSP on the Genelec website.
I'm considering an F Two sub to go with 8040B monitors. I asked Genelec directly, they said the analog inputs stay analog from input to output. This is the opposite of my 8330A monitors with GLM, which convert analog to digital immediately.

Still hoping to get a used F Two, but they hardly ever come up for sale in North America. I may have to bite the bullet and order a new one
