Geithain RL900, should I take the plunge?

I'm considering buying a pair of these monsters, mostly agreed to be excellent in a lot of regards. Any owners here?

Is investing money in a pair of old active speakers a good idea? I'm mostly concerned about the availability of vintage transistors and such...

Right that's the first model from MEG, designed in 1984. I guess 12" with a frontal vent.

The seller is asking 1900€ for the pair.

Probably a good system, but personally, I find it too expensive for an old monitor that'll probably need refoaming at some point.

Too bad second hand Geithain are so rare on the market, even here in France. I'd better keep saving for a pair of GGNTKT anyway.

The M2 will probably be incredible, with good room mode fighting abilities seeing the distance between the two woofers.

I can't wait for the detailled data on these models! They look so promising...

It's funny to see how Germany and Netherlands are leading the modern cardioid active speaker scene at the moment. I just hope that other manufacturers will step up soon.

I have never heard them, I bet they sound amazing.
Consider my opinion biased as I use Geithain myself.
btw what you are looking at is RL900. So not 12" but 15,7" woofers.
