I found another quite easy way of checking cartridge response by REW.
1. Parks Audio Puffin set to Phono EQ=500R-0
2. Record JVC TRS1007/Clearaudio TRS1007 frequency test record/Bruel&Kjær QR2010 frequency sweep- All of these have RIAA EQ below 1000 Hz and no -RIAA constant velocity above 1000 Hz . The result a sloped reponse by -10dB&decade. I use CoolEditPro/AdobeAudition or Audacity or any other recording software to make a wav file
3. Import Wav file to REW without any calibration correction
4. Make a REW calibration file in Notepad with +20db at 2.4Hz and -20 at 24000 or some other -10dB/decade slope.
5. Select "Change Cal" in REW and apply the calibration file
6. apply some smooting on the curve
TADA!! you have your cartridge reponse

Comparison of different test records for cartridge frequency response. Note Clearaudio TRS1007 is supposed to be a replication of JVC TRS1007

Se the review of Parks Audio Puffin on ASR , it is very accurate.
https://www.audiosciencereview.com/...o-puffin-review-phono-stage.19795/post-650281

The Cambridge TRS1007 is equalized by Puffin 500R-0 setting ( low frequency RIAAonly , no eq above 1000hz) and Both plots are transformed with +10db/decAde to plot horisontaly in a FFT plot. Elison has full RIAA eq

Clearaudio TRS1007, seems like IT has constant velocity above 1khz, same as my B&K QR 2010

Ok thanks,

If I measure using the white noise (or sweep) I get +0,4 dB and -1 dB response using my Shure V15Vx with JICO SAS (except for resonance peaking 10-20 kHz), same for fixed frequencies using the Elipson test record and the fixed frequencies from the Ultimate LP test record.I know from many other measurements (vinyl asylum, using Denon test records) that the Shure V15Vx always have measured with a slight sloping down. This is also what I find. The SAS stylus however, peaks with a resonance 10-20 kHz, unlike the original stylus:

The original Shure V15VxMR (not JICO SAS) from John Elison:

He measured also the ATOC9MLII using the same test record:

So the measurements agree quite well. I also measured my Ortofon OM40 and this one is more or less perfectly linear. I could redo that measurement with Elipson sweep just to check, but changing cartridge of my arm is a bit tedious.

Speed variations with old original belt. Michell Gyro SE

New alternative belt (nitrile) , with some good reveiws, not from Michell. Crazy speed variations..Belts are not the same....

Thanks for the instructions. I have just one question which I don't manage to fix and that is to "change calibration file". Should I import it as .txt in the frequency response option? I don't see where you change calibration file unless you do a measurement in the preference menu.

These are some old measurements of the V15Vx with boron stylus (lower curve), the NeoSAS ruby (upper curve) using 130 pF and 47 kOhm. The middle curve is neoSAS with 130 pF and 27 kOhm.

This is using a pink noise track. I have to redo measurements with a sweep to get a bit more reliable results, but the picture tells the principle.

130pF super low for a V. Is Vx that different?
Shure had 250 pF/47 kOhm as recommended for the V15V-MR as well as the V15VxMR. The Vx variant was a cheaper and less advanced model (non-laminated cores, inductance raised to 425 mH from 330 of the V15V-MR). For the V-MR Shure noted a range of 100 pF-400 pF with "negligible change" from the recommended 250 pF.

How do you make the polar plots?
Just FYI, my memory was indeed weak regarding the old polar plots and FM/AM demodulation. I found the old rec.audio.tech thread back in 2004, 17 years ago, and it was in a discussion involving other persons/nicks (Goofball_, Arny Krueger, Carl Valle and others), that discussed such analysis for LP12, a direct drive, and also my Linn Axis using a special software. I think I confused the name "Valle" with you nick. Sorry for that.
