Fun with vinyl measurements

I have e-mailed Alexey Korf before - on the RMS for that Sperling Test record, and asked again this week - unfortunately he has not come back with an answer. I do follow his Blog, and he does respond if you send him an e-mail - very nice fellow and he is on the Galibier website now - with the arms. Which is pretty awesome.
Worth mentioning, I thought.

Yes, Korf replied me as I have pointed to my post on the subject here, he is going to look into it, nice of him :)

Another turntable another cartridge, seem to act perfect according to Tacet, level changes, but by the same for both channels

Regarding the Merolemez azimuth tracks. According to the instructions the curves should be symmetric, and ideally at 45°. But absolute values are "cartridge specific" and point is that the pattern should be adjusted so it is symmetric. Anyone have an idea about the cartridge specific factors? My Shure V15V JICO SAS/B has 43° (to 44°). And I also measured a VM540ML recently, being at 46°.

Pick your poison

One way to get to a better playback from your turntable without going in too deep - or, to verify that the efforts one undertakes are making improvements, for me:
I compare a recording that has the same mastering, more or less  on CD and on the vinyl. Emphasis is, the mastering needs to be about equal. My favorite is Joe Cocker - Sheffield Steel - if the vinyl reproduces as close as possible compared to the CD - I know I am on the right track. Of course I have the benefit of knowing the material and the production, but there's a couple of recordings, where the mastering on the CD wasn't messed up compared to the mastering on the vinyl.
I know a lot of people will disagree with me on this, but it is a nice break from looking at graphs, and hearing test tones. Gotta get the Tacet, don't have that one...

The stupid thing with TACET it that the HTA track is at 9cm radius, and NOT at a null point!!!

How off shall levels shift to fit with X degree at 9cm… annoying

What were Tacet thinking about here?

Would be interesting why they did that, then again - cant put everything at a null point, can you.
Well there is some priority , but it is only one right place to put the VTA and HTA track at 120.9mm .. other locations make them pretty useless

One of my all time favourite albums!
A lot of people don't even know - not only Sly and Robbie, but Adrian Belew on this as well. Sad that the Studio went away. What a place... The best of Grace Jones was done there, too. Not even off topic, since those records are fantastic on vinyl. Nightclubbing is one of those, that are very close CD vs vinyl.
