Looks like a fairly useful design/function/cost mix...PSU 20.

Fan inside, hopefully a quiet one.

Hope they send one into Amir for testing!

So is it black, clean or both at once?

A lot of people have expressed discontent with the various switching power bricks...I personally have no problem with them, the ones from Fosi and Aiyima seem fine.

But Fosi sees customer comments and decided to "fill the void"...

£240 for a 40W PSU (@5, 12 or 15V) ? They're having a laugh!

They just claim their fair share.

I ordered mine for my desktop setup... an iFi Zen > Fosi ZH3 (with Fosi i5 planars) > dual ZA3's >Totem Loons
It should all look nice, clean up some cords, and sound "no worse" than stock power
Fosi gear has been solid so I trust them (also had ZD3/ZA3 now with my daughter)

I have another LHY Audio linear power supply on another system I use with Fiio gear (BR15 SR11) ... works and sounds great

I got a deal which made it a no brainer ... 20% off early bird EBPSU20 . may work for you.
happy Canada Day!

Quad-core, hear hear. Does it provide double as fast transients as a dual-core design?

First the opamp craze, then the ridiculous new Hypex amp marketing, now this. Is Fosi about to go full snake oil? Would be a shame. :(

ChatGPT :)

  • Blacker background = audiophile terminology meaning the music emerges from a quieter electrical background. In theory, this can make quiet details easier to hear because there’s less low-level hiss or interference.

Thank god we have giant energy-gobbling data centers so we can get these incredible insights.

Yes, and I didn’t ask please or thank you :)

So again - when the test of a FOSI device shows inaudible noise with the stock power supply - what do you expect to get from a test with this PSU?

I suppose it is useful to prove the linear supply doesn't introduce mains frequency noise that can always be an issue with linear.

This is the correct answer. We all know it's not likely to improve performance. But there is a certain section of the market that believes that it will. May as well cater to them.

Remember guys: we are in it for the performance of the gear. Fosi are in it for money. I don't begrudge them for making a business decision. It could be a lot worse.

They developed this Linear PSU with online input from users for a year or so including design and performnace features that came to fruition. I think thats a win
It will clean up some wall warts and external power bricks I have. I think thats a win
It looks great in a Fosi stack with my similar gear. I think thats a win.
It will produce no worse sound (TBD) and maybe better for those with special magic ears and gear. I think thats a win.
It costs less than my dinner out for two at a good restuarant on the weekend. I think that's a win.

Some should just be happier for new product options. Recall you have the option to buy or not.
As for marketing, I can point to many major brands (within and beyond electronics) that also rave yet no one shoots darts at them. Marketing is what it is in a competitive world.
chill folks.... have a cigar ...

(I'll report back on the sound in 10-14 days)
