Been looking for a decent DAC with HDMI ARC and CEC to use some powered speakers with my TV and it seems like these two are the best two options for this scenario. Does anyone have experience with both? They are both about the same price so just weighing my options.

I haven’t heard either but I suspect you’ll be happy with either one.

By that do you mean that the DL100 volume can be controlled by the TV remote or not?
I'm sorry for the question but some places say that you need CEC for volume control while others say that CEC adds only power on/off capability via tv remote.

No experience with either
Headphone amp can be a bonus, dunno. SMSL have great remote responsiveness. no idea about Fosi, but to my eyes it has a nicer design

I am indecisive between these 2 dacs.
I actually prefer the look of the SMSL, prefer the simpler display, and the headphone amp would definitely be a plus.
But I would go for the Fosi ZD3 if the sound can be controlled via TV remote and the SMSL can not.

ZD3 for having a trigger out and a more consistent CEC and ARC working
