Fosi ZD3 -Balanced DAC (ESS 9039Q2M) - First Look!

I purchased a ZD3 and have done some sighted, but level matched comparisons.
I have a ARX trigger controlled switch, controlled by a Wi-Fi Shelly1 switch so switching is instantaneous.

My preference is currently for the ZD3. This is an incredible product, competing with products costing 10X or more.

Still no echo, lookin good. Did notice phantom power up of tv. I disabled "standby cec" on my roku tvs. I can live with that.

I couldn't make HDMI work with my LG TV at all. I know I could probably send it back and ask for a replacement, but I just bought an optical - coax adapter for 16 EUR and use it with that. Is there anything I'm loosing with not using HDMI?

Auto power on-off with the TV and paying extra for an HDMI input that you don’t use.

Afaik it LG TVs can output 96 kHz, there is no need for anything higher. Not having auto on/off is actually a feature for me.

Are you trying to update the firmware?

Maybe? Dont care about HDMI conection since i prefer optical...but i found strange i cant find it.
Some advantages in term of sound?

I did buy a Sonic Scientific from Hades to help stabelize current, and gonna use a different power suply more strong...

is the CEC HDMI bug still present? My unit kept turning on ~10 seconds after turning everything off with CEC remote, then it turned on the TV back on. Does fosi have a changelog for their firmware somewhere, do they address this?

It's the only thing that keeps me using the SPDIF instead of HDMI and having a single remote for my entire home cinema.

Hi, the Fosi Audio team was nice enough (after a lot of troubleshooting and sharing of information and videos of the problem from my end) to send me a replacement device.

I can happily report the new hardware does not have the same HDMI-CEC issues with my LG TV. Previously, the ZD3 unit would automatically turn on a bit after being turned off and it would also turn the LG TV on. This is no longer the case and it all seems to work as it should.

Fosi told me that for the older hardware, a firmware update will not be able to completely fix the issue. So it seems to be something to do with the hardware too.

My apologies. I made confusion with my other DAC connected to a TV, the Topping DX3 Pro +.
I did turn off that option on TV since there was conflicts......

So far the ZD3 is only conetec to tmy main sound system and there arent any TV conected.

I'm a bit disappointed to report that unfortunately @Fosi Audio has not fixed the auto power on behaviour of the Fosi ZD3.

Every time there is a power cut or the mains are turned off an on, the ZD3 turns on automatically whether you like or not and doesn't turn back off. Connected to the other components via the trigger out, means other components turn on too.

All other devices, components or electronics or appliances stay off if their last power state was off. Not the ZD3.
